Understanding How 'Critical Events' Lead to People Getting Killed by Police

Most people would consider the death of George Floyd or Daunte Wright to be a critical incident.  They would make that rash assumption because they are "critical" to our political environment.  Many pundits and businesses are piling on because the same faulty assumption is applied to voter integrity laws passed in Georgia and under consideration in other states.

No one should be rash enough to discount the importance of these events.  But the term "critical incident" refers to a completely different concept — one that can inform how we address and prevent such public events.  The process of "critical incident analysis" is a method of examining a series of events to identify where a single critical intervention or altered critical choice would have brought the whole "chain of events" to a different conclusion.  Daunte Wright's death cries out for such an analysis.

First, let us consider what the Chief of Police in Brooklyn Center said.

Black and brown males (and some females) are now paying for the failure of liberals to take them to task for their actions that many times gets them killed.
While the homicide rate had actually declined over the decades, it has increased in recent years due to the relaxing of police enforcement.
A lot of that has to do with big city libs demanding that cops not harm their precious "babies" with tough policies. This lack of applying strict measures early on has gotten many thousands of young ignoramuses killed because they couldn't control their terminal stupidity.
The truth is black males (and many brown males) should be leaned on heavily and made aware of the drain on society they are through their violent actions.
With leftists in control of many big city governments now, I'm not holding my breath waiting for the proper measures to be applied.

Many of these thugs simply can't stand being held accountable for their bad behavior. Nobody likes to get stopped by a cop. But most people realize that flipping the cops the bird might have bad consequences.
For some reason many black males think that if they resist arrest and manage to get away, the cops will shrug their shoulders and give up.
That never happens, so more than their fair share get themselves killed. It's all on them.
