Sen. Ted Cruz takes swing at MLB, says Georgia boycott will 'hurt baseball'

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz took a swing at Major League Baseball on Tuesday, joining a group of Republican senators pushing legislation that would strip the league of its immunity from antitrust laws after the MLB moved its All-Star Game out of Georgia over new voting restrictions in the state.

U.S. Sens. Mike Lee of Utah, Josh Hawley of Missouri and Cruz announced the legislation at a press conference, accusing the MLB of “woke” virtue-signaling and acting as a “political enforcer for Democrats in Washington.”

“Major League Baseball made the decision that the more than half of its fans who happen to be Republicans are now disfavored and that voter fraud is not a concern legislatures should focus on,” Cruz said. “That decision was harmful — it’s going to hurt baseball. But it also underscores that there’s no reason Major League Baseball should enjoy special subsidies, corporate welfare that no one else gets.”

What is this "baseball" you speak of?

There is no way in Hades I'm going to BART up to SF to watch the Giants, drive up to Oakland for the As, or even go to Santa Clara for the BLM-shills 49ers! Professional sports leagues slit the throats and gutted their golden-egg-laying geese with the knife of Prog politics. I'm done with the lot of them.

MLB’S FAVORABILITY RATING PLUMMETS

Major League Baseball has suffered a massive loss in popularity among Republicans due to its intervention on the side of Democrats in the political dispute over Georgia’s voting law. According to a poll by Morning Consult, MLB’s net favorability rating (the difference between the percentage of those who view the sport positively and those who view it negatively) among Republicans has dropped from 47 points to 12 points in the past month.

Until commissioner Rob Manfred moved the all-star game, MLB was the big-time sports league viewed most favorably by Republicans. Now, it is viewed less favorably than the NFL and the NHL. It’s still viewed more favorably than the NBA, though.

The twice-repeated (IIRC) spectacle of highly paid baseball players striking kind of cooled whatever fandom I had for baseball. But after moving the All Star game from Georgia in support of partisan race-baiting lies, MLB is dead to me. And unlike 49er games, I could afford to see a live Giants or As game, multiple times if I so chose.

I supported keeping the integrity and mystique of baseball intact my first 60 or so years of life, which meant continuing the anti-trust exemption.  Now.  The Hell with MLB....  cut their balls off.
