COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The gunman who killed five people including a prominent doctor in South Carolina was former NFL player Phillip Adams, who killed himself early Thursday, according to a source who was briefed on the investigation.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to speak publicly, said Adams’ parents live near the doctor’s home in Rock Hill, and that he had been treated by the doctor. The source said Phillips killed himself after midnight with a .45-caliber weapon.

The York County Sheriff’s Office said they had searched for hours before finding the suspect in a nearby home.

Adams, 33, played as a defensive back for multiple teams including the 49ers and the Atlanta Falcons after starring at South Carolina State. He also suffered multiple injuries in the NFL, including concussions and a broken left ankle.

Murdered, not "executed".

An execution is a formal killing of a convict with state oversight.

Call the creature what he is, a murderer.  He's not an executioner.

Besides, Don Pendleton's Executioner was a white guy.

A former NFL player fatally shot a doctor, his wife, two of their grandchildren and another person before turning the gun on himself in a horrifying scene at a South Carolina home, according to the county coroner and sources.

Phillip Adams, who had stints with the Seahawks, 49ers, Raiders and Jets, opened fire at the home in Rock Hill late Wednesday afternoon, the York County Coroner and sources told The State.

Killed in the shooting was Dr. Robert Lesslie, 70, his wife, Barbara Lesslie, 69, and two of their grandchildren, 9-year-old Adah Lesslie and 5-year-old Noah Lesslie, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.

Adams’ parents live near the doctor’s Rock Hill home and he was one of Lesslie’s patients, a source told the Associated Press.

A fifth victim, James Lewis, 38, who was working at the home at the time, was also fatally shot outside, WSOC-TV reported.

A sixth person, who was not immediately identified, was hospitalized with a serious gunshot wound, authorities said. The victim was also a maintenance worker at the Lesslie family’s home, sources told The Herald.

Lewis and the wounded person both worked for Gaston Sheet Metal Services in Gastonia and were doing work at the home, WSOC reported.   ...

The former NFL player who killed five people in a South Carolina murder-suicide on Thursday will be posthumously examined for a degenerative brain disease that has been linked to football head trauma and irrational behavior, a new report said.

The family of Phillip Adams gave doctors the green light to test for chronic traumatic encephalopathy, known as CTE, a condition commonly associated with football players, The Charlotte Observer reported.

The York County coroner’s office in South Carolina will conduct the testing, in conjunction with Boston University, where a 2017 study found that most football players suffered some degree of the disease.

Results could take up to six months, the newspaper reported. ...

So to whatever degree Adams suffered from that condition, it didn't cause him to commit multiple murder. Something else persuaded him to commit murder and then suicide. My guess is that he was an addict who murdered people who refused to feed his addiction.

One of the worst lies tacitly or openly spread by the media is that blacks are hunted down and killed by racist whites at an astronomical pace.
The facts are around 400-500 innocent whites are murdered annually by blacks while non-Hispanic whites maybe murder around 50 blacks. The number might be smaller than that, because the media pumps up every instance of a black killed by a white person.
 Many black gangbangers are killed by Hispanic (mostly Mexican-American) gangbangers for control of the drug trade. The total of blacks killed by white criminals is a lot smaller.
That makes it something like 30 times more likely a black person will murder a white person than vice versa.
That is the uncomfortable truth the media does not want the general public to know.

Adams took the lives of an entire family including a prominent doctor, his wife and their two young grandchildren in a rampage at their home near the South Carolina city of Rock Hill on Wednesday afternoon.

The sixth victim was Robert Shook, 38, an air conditioning technician from Cherryville, North Carolina, who was working on the home the day of the massacre, according to York County Coroner Sabrina Gast.

Adams killed Rock Hill physician Robert Lesslie; his wife, Barbara; two of their grandchildren, 9-year-old Adah Lesslie and 5-year-old Noah Lesslie; and another air conditioning technician, James Lewis, who was working with Shook at the house. ...
