A social media video is attracting attention over a Northern California cafe’s controversial promotion that encourages customers to throw away their masks. In mid-March, Fiddleheads Cafe in Mendocino prominently posted a sign in the window of its cafe reading, "Throw your mask(s) in our trash bin and receive 50% off your order."
I'm guessing the restaurant is named for the fiddlehead fern.
... Closest I could come is probably an asparagus taste with a cucumber kinda thing going on out back.
I'm weird, I don't like cukes or asparagus. My Dad had a couple hundred acres of the latter ... God does have a sense of humor, .
I'm about to try to plant a vegetable garden again and hopefully I'll have cucumbers that actually make it this year without getting eaten by creatures!
Northern California cafe offers controversial 50% discount for those willing to toss their maskshttps://www.sfgate.com/food/article/Fiddleheads-discount-mask-sign-Castleman-COVID-16079028.phpMask-Karens be pissed. I'm guessing the restaurant is named for the fiddlehead fern. It's something like a 4 hour drive from the South Bay, but the views on SR 1 between Jenner and Mendocino are amazing!
I am a creature... And I used to love raiding watermelon patches.
NO, @bigheadfred she is an Alligator Whisperer. She trains them, then sells them to the Seminoles to wrestle in the swamp as a tourist thing. Incidentally she reminded me one night that the ones that were to stubborn to train (usually males), she BBQ'D and sold from her Food Truck on some obscure State Hwy in Florida you've never heard of.
Looking at a map, https://www.google.com/maps/place/Fiddleheads+Caf%C3%A9/@39.3058121,-123.8009506,16.75z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x80804d34fc4f7539:0x7c23df564d9caca8!8m2!3d39.3057721!4d-123.7985158, the café is about two blocks from the mouth of a river and Mendocino Bay. The views must be pretty gorgeous. It's also 2 or 3 blocks from the B & B that was used as Jessica Fletcher's House in "Murder, She Wrote".I need to see if the locals still do that 5K and 10K run.
Customers at one Northern California cafe were taken aback Monday morning after they got a glimpse of the new store policy that greeted them at the door. “$5 FEE ADDED TO ORDERS PLACED WHILE WEARING A FACE MASK,” read the poster on the glass window at Fiddlehead’s Cafe in Mendocino. A second sign with the same memo was located by the register.Just below the large print were two additional notes on the poster that warned guests if they were "caught bragging" about their vaccines “an additional $5 fee” would be added to their bill. The sign claims the fees will be donated to local charities assisting domestic abuse victims. (Previously, Fiddlehead’s Cafe had a second sign on its storefront that’s circulated on social media and read “Get your free COVID-19 vaccine card here!” The sign has since been removed.)
