Texas Has Fewer COVID Cases Than Michigan—Despite Nearly 20M More People and No Restrictions
In Texas, COVID cases continue to fall. Meanwhile, many other states are fighting a resurgence of the virus despite state attempts to tame it.
Tuesday, April 6, 2021
Jon Miltimore
Quote
On March 2, former US Senator Al Franken mocked Texas for lifting all its remaining COVID-19 restrictions.

“Gee, we here in Texas haven’t screwed up royally in a whole two weeks!” Franken tweeted. “I know! Let’s lift the mask mandate!”

Despite what Franken and many other critics predicted, Texas didn’t see an explosion in COVID cases. Instead, the Lone Star state saw cases reach a record low. Indeed, in the month since Franken mocked the announcement, daily cases in Texas fell from 6,834 to 2,078. That’s a 70 percent drop.

Meanwhile, Franken’s home state of Minnesota has experienced the opposite trajectory.  ... Despite these restrictions, Minnesota is seeing a surge in coronavirus cases. On March 2, the day Texas announced it was lifting all pandemic restrictions, Minnesota’s daily case count was at 425. A month later, on April 2, that number had swelled to more than 2,500.  ...

In other words, as of Sunday, Texas has about one-fourth as many cases as Michigan even though it has zero restrictions—and 20 million more people.   ...

Interesting how the virus obeys state boundaries (see, e.g., eastern border of AZ, entire southern border of MI, etc.).

For whatever reason(s), Michigan is getting clobbered, pretty much the way the MSM and Dems want it believed about TX, FL, and the Dakotas. The NE corner of AZ is a series of towns in the Navajo reservation. In Texas it's uber-Lib Austin, San Antonio there are being hit hardest, with DFW a bit less so. I'm not sure what that hot spot is in Colorado, except that it looks too far south and west to be Colorado Springs or Pueblo. NJ, PA, NY, and CN aren't faring too well.
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

@Cyber Liberty

A day or two ago, a Dr. specialist in viruses, in one of the upper middle states, said the route for the virus comes in at the upper east coast, goes through the upper states which is where the numbers are going up now, and moves on to the west coast, then travels from there through the southern states.  Then, there can be hot spots out of the progression, if huge numbers gather without protection.

One may not agree with the doctor's info., but if that is happening now, then Texas is going to surge with more cases, made worse by opening the state, removing any restrictions.  Within a few weeks, either Texas will have many more people sick, or they will not.  I will know if North Texas (Dallas/Fort Worth and north of there) numbers are growing.

"Joe," as you call him on a first-name basis, changed the pattern of infection by throwing the southern border wide open.  Covid is pouring across the border, along with sex trafficking and drugs.  Previous patterns no longer apply.
For unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death — if you’re unvaccinated — for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm. Sloe Joe Biteme 12/16

Fort Bend County statistics (as of yesterday):

Population: 739,342
Doses administered: 405,440
People with at least one dose: 253,947  34.35%
People fully vaccinated: 160,998 21.78%

I am among those who have had one dose, with the second one coming tomorrow.

This means over half have had at least one dose, which it has been said the one dose has a 80% effectivity rate.
This is why we are seeing the positivity rates and hospitalizations going down.

Statewide:

Population:27,885,195
13,065,244 administered
one dose: 8,251,415  29.59%
fully vaccinated: 4,670,842  16.75%

We might expect an uptick in the virus among people who are in contact with those involved on the border, with the surge, if they have not been vaccinated, but it is looking pretty good thus far.

If the SARS-CoV-2 virus "comes in", as in from other countries, the entry points are large international airports. NY/NJ has several and Chicago has a couple. But then again so does Atlanta, Miami, DFW, LA, SF, and Seattle. So virus entry from other countries is more complex and there are major entries in southern and West Coast states, which are not experiencing surges, while states around NYC and the State of Illinois are, NJ especially.

I doubt Texas will be hit by a surge.

We live in Ft Bend Co. but were vaccinated in Harris Co. because early on Ft Bend was getting no vaccines while Harris Co was, so that's where we went. I understand that we would not be considered one of the "doses administered" in the Ft Bend statistics, but I wonder if we are counted in Ft Bend's fully vaccinated or not.

You said, "Joe," as you call him on a first-name basis,..."
Am I using "Joe" all the time?  I can call him, "President of the United States Joe Biden.  Or, "Joe Biden", or "Biden".
Do we have a rule on TBR directing us to use a person's first name?  Or, both names, or three names if they have three"  Or their last name?  Do we add their title if holding a political office?

I can see this is a serious matter for you.  Let's be sure I am using a name you wish to be called:
Do you prefer "Cyber?" or "Cyber Liberty", or "You", or "Darling".  Or your new title due to your advancement in your County and State Republican Party?  Do let me know as I am worried sick about offending you.  44444heart

I have read that each person coming across the Texas border is being tested for the virus and those who are positive are separated from the others.

If each person crossing the border illegally, was shot dead when their feet landed on Texas soil, the illegal crossings would stop - also no more diseases would come into Texas from our southern border.

Throw Houston IAH in your list.  It has more international travelers than DFW.  At least back before Covid...

I do not think when I got my vaccinations they took my address.  I stayed within the county.  Not sure how they would know otherwise.  I registered through the CVS website.

Where we went for vaccination in Harris County, our Ft Bend address was part of the required registration info. When we showed up, no ID was required, just the QR code that was emailed when the registration was accepted. I know some who went elsewhere and were required to show ID. There seems to be a lot of variation among the providers regarding what is asked for when registering and getting in line.

I did have to show ID to confirm who I was, but no info was written down from it.

Thanks. I forgot about Houston. BTW, unlike the US as a nation, Canuckia (aka Canada) is experiencing an EU-style Covid cases surge. Canuckian shutdowns and their vaccine screw-up have served the Canuckian people ill.
