WASHINGTON (AP) — Police locked down the U.S. Capitol on Friday afternoon after a report of gunshots in the area.

U.S. Capitol Police say all Capitol buildings were being locked down “due to an external security threat” and staff members were told they could not enter or exit the buildings.

A law enforcement official says officers were responding to a report of a possible shooting on a street near the Capitol complex. It wasn’t immediately clear if anyone was injured.

The official could not discuss an ongoing investigation publicly and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

U.S. Capitol Is On Lockdown After Person Tries To Ram Barricade, 2 Officers Injured

Quote

WASHINGTON, DC (WJZ) — The U.S. Capitol is on lockdown after a person tried to ram a vehicle into barricade on the north side of the building.

Two U.S. Capitol Police officers were injured in the incident when they were struck by the vehicle.

The suspect is in custody.

All three people were taken to area hospitals.

U.S. Capitol police sent an alert saying the building would be lockdown “due to an external security threat” and staff members were told they could not enter or exit the building, per the Associated Press.

A large police presence is in the area.

Several of Bowowzer’s constituency at play no doubt, but the media will run the story as part of the white supremacist trump supporter insurrection as long for as they can get away with it.

The news about this is really slow ... I'm starting to think it doesn't fit someone's scenario.

Reports are the suspect is dead ... the one who drove his car through a barricade.  The only gunshots reported are from the Capitol police to the suspect.

@skeeter

They won't be able to do it for long given the skin tone of the shooter in that screen grab I posted.

It was one guy in a car. The normal barricade stopped him and he was shot.

The news about this is really slow ... I'm starting to think it doesn't fit someone's scenario.

I think it might be a Moslem.  The tell?  The Police say there was no organized planning.  The Press got burned with the Boulder shooter, having previously called him a whitey then discovering it was an Islamic terrorist gunning for The Joos.  And, at that, they remain unable to discern a motive, but there was no organized plot.

This is 100% pure speculation on my part....

This is way up the street from the barricade. Did they deploy the Guard around the entire Capitol complex?

Well since it has quickly changed to a “lone Wolf” attack in the news, it may be safe to say they know the demographics of the suspect. This will be forgotten by tomorrow.

The commie media won't know how to run with this one. The perp used a CAR to ram into cops, came out with a KNIFE and the cops killed the perp -- a young man of color.

I wonder if Bowser's going to go the curfew route.

No mention that suspect was shot by police?
