Keeping Georgetown Law School Profs from Talking About Black Students' Low Grades Helps No One

Some simple, obvious facts are too politically incorrect for academics to state publicly. Georgetown University just fired law professor Sandra Sellers and forced out professor David Batson. Sellers' offense? "I end up having this angst every semester that a lot of my lower ones are blacks," Sellers' said in discussion with another professor at the end of a Zoom call.

Batson's offense? He didn't condemn the statement, but instead sympathized with Sellers’ concerns. “What drives me crazy is… my own unconscious biases playing out in the scheme of things” might be responsible for their poor scores, he said. The logic is that blacks do poorly in college because of professors' biases.

Georgetown Law Dean Bill Treanor said he was "appalled" by these statements, but all academics know that this is true.

I held teaching or research positions at many universities – the Wharton Business School, University of Chicago, UCLA, Yale, Stanford, and Rice -- and I have heard these concerns raised many times. I have listened to even the most liberal professors make the same statements as Batson and Sellers.

But the left has only itself to blame for the harm that affirmative action in academia does to black students. For decades, black law school students' LSAT scores have regularly been much lower than those of whites or Asians. At the University of Chicago Law School, I heard faculty say that over several decades there was only one time when the highest black LSAT score was above the lowest white score.

Most blacks do poorly in college because they're not ready for college.

They were robbed by the socialists kissing their asses in high school.   They were promoted from grade to grade to grade because, well, heck, they're black and need all the help they can get.

Right?  Isn't that what the Rodents say?   Why else do they pass and pass and pass when they can't do the work?

A rough quote from Robert Heinlein:

"Let's say you raised a puppy using the methods of the Rodents, always being nice to him and never properly house-breaking him, and then you realize finally that you have a full grown dog who craps in the house so you take your gun out and let him vote for President and write slogans on the street.   What do you think of that way of raising a dog, Mr. Rico?"

"Why, that's the craziest way to raise a citizen I ever heard of.   When they pee in the house, you're supposed to rub their noses in it so they know what you're unhappy about, and then put them on the paper for a while.  Then they vote the right way and know how to read."

Actually, the Sled Dog rescues all his huskies and has never once had to house-train a dog.   Yuki did eat my copy of Seward, though.   But you get the drift.   The schools have been deliberately with malice intended, training blacks to be no better than the slaves the Republicans liberated 160 years ago.    And, frankly, after all this effort, if the blacks WANT to be plantation negros, LET THEM.

But if they can't read, they shouldn't be allowed to vote.   Just like for white people and anyone else.

What is certain?  That if they refuse to look into the causes of why blacks get lower college entrance test scores and do crappier in college when they get in on racist set-asides, the blacks will continue to perform like crap.  Which is what the Rodents want.

The GOP is not the party leadership.  The GOP is the party MEMBERSHIP.   The members need to kick the leaders out if they leaders are going the wrong way.  No coddling allowed.

This has never been about helping black students succeed.  It has always been about loading up black students with mountains of student debt from government loans that end up padding the salaries of college professors.  If colleges ended racial quotas and began accepting students based solely upon merit, then they would end up with less students, and thus less tuition money.

The best course of action has always been to virtue signal with affirmative action racial quotas, take the money, and then ignore what happens to college dropouts whose false hopes were exchanged for defaulted loans that handicap their credit histories for decades to come.

The professor in this instance exhibited empathy which cannot be tolerated by the left.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

You don't understand academe at all:  the only things being padded are the salaries of administrators, along with their numbers and the number of support staff.  Professors are lucky if they get raises that keep up with inflation. If the reputation of universities wasn't built on the research of the faculty, the administrators would replace them all with cheaper adjuncts and increase their own pay packages and their number of support staff even more.

And university administrators are the main source of a lot of the rot:  things like sex-positive student orientations, diversity initiatives and speech codes almost always come from the administration, not the faculty.  Yes, in surveys, university administrators as a group are even further left than university faculty.
