Might as well get it over with, it's probably coming anyway.

One way or the other, this trial probably will mark the end of Minneapolis being a viable city... or perhaps a civilized "city" at all...

Chauvin goes to prison and he's a dead man. No doubt about it.

I find it outrageous they declared the park named after the addled druggy who assaulted police officers an Autonomous Zone.   So wrong on so many levels.
@Cyber Liberty

George Floyd and family lived in Texas.  He got in so much trouble with cops/drugs, etc., they left Texas to "start over" again.

I cannot imagine what will happen after the trial - either way it goes, people are going to kill people.

Floyd may have been run out of Texas.  Although I'm no expert, I don't think starting over includes doing drugs, especially one of the most powerful and addictive drugs known today, Fentanyl,

Floyd family lawyer: No one would call this a hard case if victim was white
By Marty Johnson - 03/29/21 10:03 AM EDT

Civil rights attorney Ben Crump on Monday set the tone prior to opening statements in the trial of Derek Chauvin, the former Minnesota police officer who is charged with the killing of George Floyd, an unarmed Black man, in Minneapolis last May.

“Today starts a landmark trial that will be a referendum on how far America has come on its quest for equality and justice for all,” Crump said at a press conference outside of Hennepin County courthouse in downtown Minneapolis.

“This murder case is not hard, just look at the torture video of George Floyd,” Crump continued, saying that there would be no question whether Chauvin would get convicted if Floyd was white.

Crump, who represented Floyd’s family in a record $27 million settlement with the city, also predicted that Chauvin’s defense team would try to attack the character of Floyd, calling him “everything but a child of God.”

How much of that 27mil did Crump get?

The judge needs to issue a gag order...I hope that would include Crump and his associates.

Heck, the stupid Judge would not even entertain a change of venue, so the "trial" is being held where there is a park named after the alleged "victim."

The only gag orders will be on Chauvin's team.

Would Chauvin have the ability to appeal based on that?

Not with the current make-up of the WI Supreme Court.

Whole deal is a freaking circus of injustice.  Thug in process of overdosing and fighting back brings down our criminal justice system.

St. George was nothing but a thug and his "legal" team and entourage are a bunch of savage jackals profiting from the whole sorted event.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

FNC’s Jarrett: ‘More than Enough Evidence to Convict’ Derek Chauvin in George Floyd Trial

Trent Baker 30 Mar 2021

Monday on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” network legal analyst Gregg Jarrett reacted to the Derek Chauvin trial, which began earlier that day.

According to Jarrett, “there is more than enough evidence to convict” Chauvin for the death of George Floyd. He pointed to the “compelling evidence of guilt” from the video recording of the scene.

“[J]urors, Sean, became eyewitnesses to the horrifying death of George Floyd,” Jarrett said of the trial’s opening arguments. “The digital recording transported them effectively back in time, placing them at the scene observing events minute by agonizing minute, and the seconds seemed to tick away like it was a slow-motion death spiral. Sean, this is compelling evidence of guilt. The jurors heard Floyd’s frightened pleas — ‘I can’t breathe. I can’t breathe. Help me, please.’ They heard bystanders say you’re killing them. And then the jury saw Floyd’s both go limp as he lapsed into unconsciousness, lifeless, and by any measure, it was heart-wrenching and grotesque. And any compassionate person, Sean, would be incensed and angry at Derek Chauvin’s actions, which is precisely why prosecutors made the digital recording their star witness. All other evidence or testimony in this trial will pale in comparison. There were so many opportunities for Chauvin to stop, yet he refused. And when it was obvious that Floyd was not breathing, Chauvin could have rendered aid; he didn’t do it. It wasn’t just indifference to human life. It was malice.”

He continued, “[T]he question is not whether Chauvin intended to kill Floyd, only that his actions toward Floyd were intentional. Second of all, prosecutors don’t have to prove that Chauvin’s conduct was the sole cause of death, only that it was a substantial factor. The defense is claiming a drug overdose killed Floyd, but the law, the autopsy, the recording itself, especially the videotape, will overcome all of that. The defense is claiming that the client did not use excessive force. That seems utterly preposterous when you watch the tape. There is more than enough evidence to convict because, Sean, seeing is believing.”

Host Sean Hannity asked Jarrett where he sees the trial going.

“It goes toward conviction,” Jarrett replied.

“Look, Sean, it’s very clear — you may never use lethal force to meet nonlethal threat,” he added. “And that’s precisely what Derek Chauvin and officers in Minnesota, Minneapolis, are taught. So, there will be an expert who will make it abundantly clear. And in fact, it’s the chief of police that this is excessive force. It was not proportional. And it was completely unreasonable, resulting in death.”

Mixed martial arts witness tells Chauvin trial he 'witnessed a murder'
By Marty Johnson - 03/30/21 12:09 PM EDT

A prosecution witness with experience in mixed martial arts on Tuesday said he believed he witnessed a murder during a 911 call played in court on the second day of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin's trial for the death of George Floyd.

Donald Williams, 33, was heard on the emergency call stating: "He just pretty much killed this guy that wasn’t resisting arrest.”

Williams told those attending the trial in the Hennepin County Courthouse Tuesday morning that he made the call because he believed he had “witnessed a murder.”

Williams, a witness for the prosecution with a background in both wresting and mixed martial arts, had began his testimony late Monday afternoon. He said during Monday's proceedings that Chauvin had Floyd in a “blood choke.”

Also known as a carotid hold, a “blood choke” refers to a chokehold that cuts off blood supply from the brain by placing pressure on either or both sides of a person’s neck where the carotid arteries are located.

So it's the prosecutor's turn, and if the job is done properly people would be ready to take him out and shoot him like a rabid dog on the spot.  Jarret's just a typical media fool, so I don't pay attention to him.

The George Zimmerman trial was like that, also with an extremely biased Judge putting her thumb on the scale.  The prosecutor's case looked pretty good until the defense got their hands on the "witnesses" and physical evidence.  Even the hanging Judge could not convince the jury.

What was the jury make-up then? I think the biggest challenge that Chauvin will have is that it's primarily a black, female jury. Impartiality isn't a word that comes to mind when considering that.

9-year-old witness says medics asked Chauvin to get off of Floyd

A 9-year-old witness who testified Tuesday in the trial of Derek Chauvin said the former Minneapolis police officer initially ignored requests by medics to remove his knee from George Floyd’s neck in the moments leading up to his death last May.

The young witness, one of several minors not publicly identified in the courtroom, said she saw firsthand when Chauvin pressed into Floyd for nearly nine minutes.

The girl said she had gone to buy snacks at a nearby store with her cousin, 18-year-old Darnella Frazier, who testified immediately before the 9-year-old Tuesday.

The younger girl said that when she walked out of the store, she “saw an officer put his knee on the neck of George Floyd.”

When asked if she saw the officer in the courtroom, the young witness initially said, “No,” not recognizing Chauvin behind his face mask. She changed her answer moments later after the former officer stood up and removed his facial covering.

This is just a show trial, in the Soviet sense. Of course he will be convicted, and may not survive to appeal.

This has bugger-all to do with justice (otherwise, there would have been no rush to make Floyd's relatives millionaires), it's just a political show.
