Only a few days ago, I put up a post about how the Republicans might use the 25th Amendment to prevent harris from becoming president.
But then, I read something that challenged my thinking.
Right now, the senate is split 50-50, with harris as "president of the Senate" and able to break tie votes.
BUT...
If biden was removed from office, resigned, or was to vacate it some other way, harris would become president, VACATING her chair in the senate.
Now, the senate would be 50-50, with no tie-breaking vote possible so long as the Republicans refused en masse to vote for harris' nominee to become vice president. Of course, whether they would have the resolve to act in solidarity to maintain a common front is in doubt.
Seems to me this could become the better alternative, at least until the 2022 elections...
