House Democrats have asked President Joe Biden to give other officials the authority to launch nuclear weapons, an action which he currently has sole authority to do.

California Rep. Jimmy Panetta spearheaded the Monday letter, which was signed by nearly three dozen House Democrats, Politico reported.

“Vesting one person with this authority entails real risks,” the letter reads. “Past presidents have threatened to attack other countries with nuclear weapons or exhibited behavior that caused other officials to express concern about the president’s judgment.”

“While any president would presumably consult with advisors before ordering a nuclear attack, there is no requirement to do so,” the letter says according to the report. “The military is obligated to carry out the order if they assess it is legal under the laws of war. Under the current posture of U.S. nuclear forces, that attack would happen in minutes.”

The letter suggests alternative plans, such as requiring the president to get approval for a launch order from other officials in the line of succession. This includes the vice president and the Speaker of the House, “neither of whom can be removed by the president if they disagree.”

I know what the Rodents can do since they don't have the Constitutional authority to deprive the Usurper-In-Chief of any of his duties.

They can impeach him or file Amendment 25 challenges to his fitness to hold office...and thus hand the nuclear codes over to a whore still subject to the violent emotional swings of active female hormones, an alleged woman who might decide to take action if some man doesn't heed her "I'm talking here" whine.


Or they can impeach the Usurper and the Usurperette both and give Nutty Nancy those codes....she has all the stability of a senile old witch with a couple of Gretels in the oven.

For this discussion to take place one month into the presidency of Biden points to one thing that is needed, and needed immediately.

The notion that all one needs as a requirement to become POTUS is to be age 35 and have been born here in the USA is grossly inadequate in the year 2021.  It was fine when the nation was founded, but no longer.  Congress has failed the American people miserably for this to continue as the standard.

Biden is not qualified to be POTUS on the basis of physical wellbeing.  He is not physically or mentally fit for the position.

We need an amendment to end this nonsense now.

The 25th Amendment -- Kamala needs to step in.  If they don't want her then they need to speed up their plans to put in place who they truly want. Sure Mario Kart Joe may have declined much more quickly than anticipated, but it sure seems that they're not ready to have Kamal take the reins either.

Biden doesn't look much different than when he was on the campaign trail.  The real problem was why did Biden get in the oval office, but isn't fit even though he has changed little.  Buyers remorse indeed, i wanna return this, it's just what i thought it was when i bought it! (election day)

A group of more than 30 House Democrats is asking President Biden to give up his sole control of U.S. nuclear weapons.

In a letter led by Rep. Jimmy Panetta of California, the Democrats ask that their party’s leader alter the command-and-control structure surrounding America’s nuclear arsenal so that no single person can launch the weapons.

“Vesting one person with this authority entails real risks,” the letter states. “Past presidents have threatened to attack other countries with nuclear weapons or exhibited behavior that caused other officials to express concern about the president’s judgment.”  ...

I'm sure they think we'll take that as a slam at Trump - so erratic! so nutty! - but it's clear they just want to wrest control from sick ol' demented Joe.

The letter suggests such changes to the command of the U.S. arsenal as requiring approval also from officials in the constitutional line of succession, specifically including the vice president and the House speaker, “neither of whom can be removed by the president if they disagree.”

Yeah, KommieLa and Pelosi, that's who should have the nuclear football. They'll probably want to nuke red states.

Did ANYONE think they would ever see this happen,regardless of who was the President?

*I* always figured what would happen if a President was THAT unreliable,that a move would be made by his own party to retire him from office and replace him with the VP.

In a situation REQUIRING the launch of nuclear missiles,the authority HAS to rest in the hands of the President. This is a decision that can NOT be made by a committee because it is the type of decision that has to be make RIGHT FREAKING NOW,NOT NEXT WEEK AFTER A COMPROMISE HAS BEEN MADE.

Are we now supposed to believe that if North Korea or China were to release a missile strike on the US that we would have a committee meet to seek out a consensus or a compromise with our attackers before responding to the attack?

HOW freaking stupid is THAT?

Even the Dims know Slow Joe is demented,and they are afraid he is going to launch the nukes on a whim one day. They do NOT want to admit it because if they did that it would be akin to admitting they knowingly ran a demented candidate for office and HID THE DEMENTIA TO FOOL THE AMERICAN VOTING PUBLIC.

THAT is why they are doing this.

They are playing "cover our asses" in an attempt to try to keep Slow Joe in office until after the mid-terms,when they can then force him to retire and replace him with Harris. That way Harris gets to run as an experienced incumbent in 2024.

WHISPERS: DC is a city of whispers and if you're having lunch there (which is a ghost town because no one wants to get their pic taken without a mask) you'll hear curious House members asking why not a single GOP member signed the letter to Biden to take his nuclear button away.

Presumably Pelosi wanted control of the nuclear arsenal and the GOP wasn't interested in giving her the nuclear football. Second, House members are curious why Biden missed the State of the Union address scheduled for the 23rd (the media has kept the cancellation quiet).

The answer to the democrats problem is to impeach Biden, who is well justified in being impeached.  Of course democrats are loathe to impeach some one that clearly is justified to be impeached.
