Montana became the 18th state to end its concealed carry permit requirement when Gov. Greg Gianforte (R) signed House Bill 102 on Thursday.

by AWR Hawkins 2021-02-22

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2021/02/18/montana-18th-state-abolish-concealed-carry-permit/

The NRA-ILA reported that Gianforte signed HB102, which means Montanans can “carry a firearm for self-defense throughout the state without a government-mandated permit.”

Breitbart News reported that HB102 also removes a number of state government-mandated “gun-free zones” throughout the state.

On February 12, 2021, Breitbart News noted that Utah became the 17th state to abolish its concealed carry permit requirement.

Montana is now the 18th.

Montana House passes bill to permit campus concealed carry

HELENA, Mont. (AP) — A bill that would expand the list of places in Montana where people can carry concealed firearms with and without permits passed Thursday in the Republican-controlled House, less than two weeks after the Legislature started its session.

Under existing law, concealed firearms are only allowed without permits in Montana outside of city limits. The bill would allow them to be carried without permits, including in the Montana Capitol, state and local government buildings and on public university campuses.

Nah... If he'd have supplied lasting Conservative change I would have voted for him.

And BTW, I am eating my hat here anyway. I specifically did not want Gov. Gianforte, and did NOT vote for him. I am very pleasantly surprised... And if he keeps this up, he will have my vote, no doubt!

Nice dream, but if that was going to happen, it would have happened during Trump's presidency.  One has to wonder why it didn't happen.  Is Texas, perhaps, already more blue than we knew?  Biden's amnesty will effectively turn Texas officially blue.  And it goes further downhill from there...

Ahem!  "Trump did not supply lasting change?"  Wouldn't that have required the RINOs in the Legislative Branch to pass actual bills?  I don't think it's 100% fair to blame that lack of action on the President.  Yes, he had the "bully pulpit," but that will only get you so far.

Which is exactly why so many on the right are so ticked off at the GOP (still and) again.   It's an ever-repeating pattern of stupidity.   Deliberate stupidity.

IMHO, and to my great surprise, president Trump did ALL that he could without the aid of the legislature.

The headwinds he faced are still not firmly grasped by a great many. Mainly because the media refuses to do any actual reporting.

I do not blame Tumpy 100%, nor have I ever... Remember that I am fond of the saying, 'Throw the bastards out!'

But neither am I willing to hold Tumpy unaccountable. No free passes. Even Cruz. *NO* passes.

And if Tumpy holds blame above the rest, it is because the buck stops at the top.

OK, I'll modify that a bit:  It's not at all fair to Blame Trump for not getting lasting change, and to suggest he's to blame for that is a fundamental misunderstanding of the Constitution.  "The President proposes, the Congress disposes."

If anything, the EOs were what was wrong about this.  Ruling by Decree is never good, whomever does it.

The HELL it ain't fair. THAT'S HIS JOB. And that's his brag - the best deal-maker. It is his JOB to cobble a coalition together to push forward an agenda. And he DID that. It just was not a Conservative agenda.

Conservative candy by EO, a vapor and nothing more, And a plethora of liberal laws, hand in hand and right in bed with the MurderTurtle. Before you criticize my position, you had best go look at what we get to KEEP. What he signed into law. And there just ain't no different way to look at it.

Neither does the US Constitution.  A President is not a King.

It confuses me, because you blame "Tumpy" for Congressional failure to act.  Those two things don't go together very well.

Ok, then please explain how it's Tump's fault the Republican House and Senate failed to pass laws?

Beyond his guarantee that he would be able to join the disparate factions together (which is his job), and instead promoting backbiting and division, it wasn't his fault. Like I said I hold neither blameless.

Then his fault lies in a fail to deliver because of others.  Sounds like any manager's lament in a political context.  Ok, if that's the argument you want to make.  Savaging him as "Tumpy" because of Congressional RINOs seems a bit out of proportion while ignoring the Constitution specifies a President is not a King. You say all are to blame, so how many others do you mock their names (other than Slo Joe Biteme)?

Don't be surprised if few would agree.

Yeah, few of Dubya's defenders agreed either. And many of them defend him to this day.
I have never found solace in being among the 'in' crowd.
My solace is in principles... Which go wholly undefended otherwise.

And I think it truly funny that you think I am 'savaging' him by calling him Tumpy.

In the end, nothing got done. Nothing was won. And it cost twenty trillion dollars.
And Tumpy was right in the thick of it.
He owns it.

Call me up when you care to support fiscal conservatism and libertarianism. Because actually supporting sh*t is more important than throwing poo at democrats, which is the bloody entirety of the Tumpist movement.

ME hanging on to a boogie man? LOL! It ain't me doing that. The 'boogie man' around here is an amorphous thing that can't be seen called a 'deep state', a thing of bedtime ghost stories... The things that scare me are factual and I have pointed them out over and over, foremost the re-election of ANYONE who participated in the 20 trillion dollar boondoggle that put my grandchildren into bondage.

And that is sure as hell worth pointing out. And it boggles the mind that everyone here ain't on that same page if no other. If there should be NO slack-cutting, that would be where.
