Schiff: America Has One ‘Functional Party and a Cult of Personality Around Donald Trump’

House Intelligence Committee chairman Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) said Sunday on MSNBC’s “Weekends” that America has “one functional party and a cult of personality around Donald Trump,” referring to the Democratic and Republican Parties, respectively.

Reacting to a video of  House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) being asked if he acknowledged President Joe Biden as the “legitimate president of the United States,” Schiff said, “This is the number two Republican in the House, and he has difficulty saying that Joe Biden was elected in a free and fair election because he doesn’t want to antagonize Donald Trump and his base, notwithstanding the fact that Donald Trump incited a violent attack on our Capitol, these republican leaders are still in his thrall.”

He continued, “Steve Scalise made the same pilgrimage Kevin McCarthy did to Mar-a-Lago to kiss the ring, to once again pledge fealty to Donald Trump. They have tied their wagon to this amoral now former president. It’s a terrible thing for the Republican Party, but it’s also a tragedy for the country. We need two functional parties. Right now, we only have one functional party and a cult of personality around Donald Trump.”

In actuality, we have two semi-functional political parties: one is half-committed to saving the American Republic; the other is largely committed to destroying it.

...hmmm  for the most part I agree, but I see that at most one-fourth is committed to saving this Republic and the rest do not care as long as they can line their pockets, and/or are largely committed to destroying her.

I can't really disagree with Schiff here, bug-eyed loon that he might be.

The demo-communists ARE "a functioning party". They may be corrupt. They are certainly heading for "full communist". They may have constructed an "underground election apparatus" (is there any question that it didn't work as intended?) capable of stealing the presidential election.

But they are functioning, no doubt about it.

It's the Republicans who seem (as a party) to be falling apart right now.
How well did the Republican state legislatures "function" in the face of cheating in 4 or 5 of their states last November? How did those Republicans in charge down in Georgia "function" in the days prior to and after the Georgia runoffs in January?

A "cult of personality" around Mr. Trump?
Perhaps. I have no problems with that. None at all.
It's gonna take one or more "strong personalities" to thwart the communists in the days (and years) to come...

Trump never had a cult of personality.   He probably wanted one.   But nah.... never had it.

Now this, on the other hand.... is definitely called a cult of personality....

After sabotaging Trumps term in office for four years and more, Shifty shift is trying to say President Trump was treated like a cultist god like the left tried to deify slick willy, and Obama ?  Talk about taking a reach, but democrats do love to cast away their wickedness over and onto Republicans.
