Romney explains impeachment vote, calls on senators to affirm Biden won

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) released a statement Thursday explaining his vote to convict former President Trump for inciting the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol and calling on his fellow senators to affirm that President Biden won the election that the pro-Trump mob sought to prevent Congress from certifying.

“The conclusion I reached on the final verdict will not surprise anyone who read my reasoning in the first impeachment trial: I consider an attempt to corrupt an election to keep oneself in power one of the most reprehensible acts that can be taken by a sitting president,” wrote Romney, the only GOP senator to vote to convict Trump in both of his impeachment trials.

“The second impeachment resulted from the President’s continued effort to do just that. The President’s conduct represented an unprecedented violation of his oath of office and of the public trust,” he added.


Romney said the former president "attempted to breach" a line that "separates our democratic republic from an autocracy: it is a free and fair election and the peaceful transfer of power that follows it."

"What he attempted is what was most feared by the Founders. It is the reason they invested Congress with the power to impeach," Romney wrote. "Accordingly, I voted to convict President Trump."

The former GOP presidential nominee then called on his fellow senators to affirm that Biden won the 2020 president election, saying that it will begin the path of healing for the nation.

Don't be surprised if no one will voluntarily follow you down the commode, Putz. You aren't enough of a leader.

Romney's career in politics is over, he just does not know it yet.  Speaks volumes for just how rotten this POS is.

Hopefully, we see a 100% purge for all that impeached Trump.  One need not love Trump at all, but one does need to support the party and its members, and Romney and the rest that voted against Trump have no business being in office.

The Republican Party is the minority party across the board.  One of the big reasons they are in that state is because of maggots like Romney, Sasse, Collins, Murkowski, and Lee.  All should be primaried.  POSs like Tommey have announced they are leaving.  Don't let the door hit you in the posterior, I say!

Another violent leftist was arrested on Wednesday for partaking in the US Capitalprotest turned Antifa riot.
Aaron Mostofsky, is a registered Democrat.  He is the latest Antifa rioter who was identified at the Capital on January 6th.
Another radical at the Capital last week was arrested yesterday. He is a registered Democrat:

Mr. Mostofsky is a 34 year old registered Democrat and the son of a New York Judge.  He is seen in the picture above dressed in fur, carrying a stick and wearing a bullet proof police vest he had stolen.

Mostofsky is standing beside the man who carried a Confederate flag into the event. This indicates they possibly knew each other and both appear to be outsiders and leftist demons plotting to smear Trump supporters.
It’s unknown at this time if Mostofsky is a member of Antifa who was clearly leading the violent activities at the Capitol.
As the days go by, the violent criminal activity at the US Capitol continues to be linked to leftist outsiders at the event.  This really comes as no surprise

You can't demand people accept an election result. One can believe that Joe Biden is an alien sent from one of Jupiter's moons to destroy the nation.
You just can't engage in lawlessness or violence as a result

I have trouble with being lectured about accepting election results by people who refused to accept the last one
