Stacey Abrams nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

Stacey Abrams, the former Georgia gubernatorial Democratic candidate and star voting rights activist, has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, Reuters reports.

Abrams and her organization Fair Fight Action were integral in increasing Black voter turnout in Georgia this election cycle — a sprawling, years-long effort that culminated in the long-time red state turning blue.

Lars Haltbrekken, a Socialist Party politician in Norway’s parliament, said Monday, the first day of Black History Month in the U.S. and the last day for someone to be nominated for the prize, that “Abrams’ work follows in Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s footsteps in the fight for equality before the law and for civil rights.”


King won the award in 1964.

Haltbrekken added: “Abrams’ efforts to complete King’s work are crucial if the United States of America shall succeed in its effort to create fraternity between all its peoples and a peaceful and just society,” Haltbrekken said.

Thousands of people are eligible to nominate someone for the honor, which is announced annually in October.

Out of curiosity, I looked up who is eligible to nominate someone for a Nobel Peach Price. You can read the details here:

But of note, any member of a state legislature, or any cabinet official, or even a university professor, can nominate someone. So the fact that the election-sow got nominated likely means some Democrat congressperson or some left-wing university professor nominated her. Not a very high bar.

I don't see that her 'work' really follows in MLK's footsteps, but I have no doubt she'll get the Prize.  She and the BLMers.

The Nobel folks lost all credibility when they nominated Obama one week after becoming POTUS.  The man never did a thing to warrant the nomination or win.

Abrams is a nut case.

Well, 'somebody' nominated Barack Obama out of the gate as a stunt, and the SOB won!

For doing absolutely nothing!

SOB bombed more countries (8) than other other President since WWII.  Killed American citizens overseas without any trial.

But it's an opportunity to humiliate Jarod Kushner, President Trump's son-in-law...by awarding it to Stacy Abrams.

Like Rush Limbaugh always says... "I know these people!!"   :laugh:
