Nor where the message is all about God accepting us as we are. Why do people think Christ went to the cross?
In a word, TORAH. The closer we were to those commandments, the closer we were to faith, and to realizing our need for a Savior... The mechanics of it are simple. If you don't think you are breaking any laws, what need for any but some abstract savior? Lip service is enough, right?
With me it is different... Yeshua personally lead me up out of Egypt with a mighty mighty hand. I know what I was. And I know I don't deserve a damned bit of mercy. And having given me a new life, and a chance or twenty at getting it right, I walk the path of Torah because it's what we do.
That sounds a little funny, but I see it as a House. Yah's house. And I dunno how it was in your family, but the Old Man's word was law in my house. If I went up against him, there was hell to pay. But later, what started in fear of the old man, wound up as a different kind of fear. Respect. and with that love. What he had to dang near beat into me turned out to be right, and once I figured that out, I loved him for saving me from the way I was so often prone toward going.
I love my dad for that patience that did not look much like patience at the time - 'A thundering velvet hand' as Dan Fogelberg so neatly put it. And there ain't no one who would mistake me for being other than my father's son. I keep my dad's torah because it's a family thing. It's just how we do.
I see the House of Yah and his Torah being exactly that same thing. There is nothing salvific to it, anymore than my dad's... It's just what we do who are of the House of YHWH... And I mess it up all the time, and often badly - but just like in my dad's house, it's what we do, and I hope someday that no one will ever mistake me for anything but coming from the house of YHWH... I hope someday to say I am my Father's son.
America in my youth would understand that much better than now.
I thought it was significant that the attack occurred on the very things the US is generally associated with - wealth (in the WTC) and military power (in the Pentagon). Perhaps this was simply the malevolent design of those who executed the attack, but it should have taught a lesson nonetheless.
You are not wrong, but there is much much more - If you get some time, find a lecture - length vid by Jewish Messianic Rb Jonathon Cahn. on the Harbingers. His book on the subject if you need more depth... And you will see a mystery opened up before your eyes... Things a run of the mill Christian would just be utterly ignorant of because of the Hebrew sense of it involved.
And his National Breakfast Address to Congress is a prophet of Yah speaking to power... A magnificent speech where he pulled no punches.
I think that Spirit has *always* been the only thing that can preserve the country. That It did in the past is likely because those men of the past, whose statues we have recently allowed to be defaced and destroyed, recognized their dependence on It. But of course we are much wiser now than they.....................
That is exactly right - The hubris of modernity is the great deception writ large.
