I definitely wouldn't want to live in the D.C. area.  IMHO something bigger is going on.

Bridges into D.C. Being Closed as Troop Levels in Capital City Surge Even Higher

Amid fears and rumors, Washington, D.C. will be filled with troops and not spectators as Wednesday’s inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden nears.

Virginia will be limiting access into the capital by closing some interstates and bridges, according to WAVY-TV.

Meanwhile, troops will pour into Washington, with about 25,000 National Guard members being deployed, according to Stars and Stripes.

Earlier reports had said about 20,000 troops were going to be deployed, a level already above the current number of U.S. troops in Afghanistan.

The Interstate 66 and Interstate 395 bridges will be closed from 6 a.m. Tuesday, through 6 a.m., Thursday. The National Park Service is closing the Arlington Memorial Bridge.........

Do they even need to close the bridges? with that level of troops and equipment I would imagine the place is pretty damn crowded and who with a IQ higher than AOC's would even consider going to that shitstorm?

A Fishrrman kinda-shaky prediction:

A lot of those troops are going to end up STAYING in D.C.
Maybe not the National Guard per se.
But we'll see regular Army "out in numbers" there, from now on.
Particularly around the Capitol, White House, and Supreme Court buildings.

Just so the proles don't get any wrong ideas...

Not sure why they are doing it this early...but anywhere from 12-24 hours before the inauguration they shut everything down from the mixing bowl north to vehicle traffic for the event.  All the vehicle bridges are closed to anything but foot traffic.

When I worked toe 2009 Inaguration...the companies from The Old Guard that marched in the parade had to stage in a parking lot at the Pentagon and march into the district to their spot for the parade.
