National Mall ‘to be completely closed’ for Joe Biden’s inauguration amid security concerns

The National Mall in Washington, DC will be completely closed off to the public on Inauguration Day amid ongoing concerns about violent protests.

Only security personnel and the media will be allowed to access the traditional gathering place for crowds keen to see the ceremony, according to officials who spoke to The Washington Post.

The extraordinary shutdown of the entire mall for the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden comes as the city and federal authorities act to prevent further violence following the 6 January assault on the Capitol Building.

More than 20,000 National Guard troops have been called up to protect the swearing in of the 46th president on Wednesday 20 January. The FBI is monitoring threats ahead of the event, including the possibility of armed protests.

The Mall is the largest open space in the city, officially stretching from the Capitol to the Washington Monument — though often taken to also include areas to the west leading up to the Lincoln Memorial.

YES...and how much is  this is going to COST ALL OF US IN TAXES?  Where are all the lefts on here, complaining about THIS UNNECESSARY EXPENSE BY DEMON-RATS...TO US TAXPAYERS?   Only a  "deficit " when republican's are in charge.

I can't help but wonder how the world views the POTUS being sworn in with 20,000 armed troops guarding him.

It use to be a celebration and an example to the world how a free people transfer power. It's 3rd world totalitarian states that need armed troops to protect it's "elected" President.

They don't want any eye witnesses, Liberal or Trumpers.
Don't know how they are going to do it exactly, but somehow they will have someone standing in for Biden during the swearing in.
He will be asleep in his basement, like always.
Biden is a babbling fool. He would look like a 'special needs' child if he actually showed up there.
We will NEVER see Biden again. Except for highly produced heavily edited video clip.
The guy is a vegetable. He is brain dead.

Not saying that with glee. I'm only saying what I see with my own eyes.
I hope all the NeverTrumps/Liberals/Democrats/Communists are all happy with what they have done to our once great nation.
