Thanks for posting that, I just had to watch it one more time.

The Shepperton Studios version above is the best live recorded version of this song, The Who's greatest and (for me) their anthem.

Oddly enough, Townsend (the writer) said that he didn't care for it.
Perhaps because it can be interpreted from "different sides".

This is the closing song in the documentary film "The Kids Are Alright".
Even if you're not a rock n roller (I'm not), I'll reckon you'll still enjoy it.

Really helped my mood tonight, as I've been pretty down about everything that's been happening.

There has always been a tremendous existential power in great, timeless rock 'n' roll music.  At least for me.

I saw The Who right around that time (1978) and it still moves me.

The energy is just amazing - Roger Daltrey's frenetic pacing, Pete Townsend absolutely owning that Gibson Les Paul, Keith Moon's insanely powerful drum-kit mastery,and John Entwhistle, in perfect contrast standing nearly still while laying down a sublime bass rhythm - it's a perfect example of the transformative power of music.
