Cheney says she'll vote to impeach Trump
By Juliegrace Brufke - 01/12/21 05:47 PM EST

House Republican Conference Chair Liz Cheney (Wyo.), the No. 3 Republican in the House, announced Tuesday that she plans to vote to impeach President Trump for inciting a violent mob at the Capitol last week.

Cheney is the first member of House GOP leadership to announce their support for impeachment, breaking with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) on the matter. Cheney told members on a conference call on Monday evening she felt it was a "vote of conscience," according to one source familiar with her remarks.

"On January 6, 2021 a violent mob attacked the United States Capitol to obstruct the process of our democracy and stop the counting of presidential electoral votes. This insurrection caused injury, death and destruction in the most sacred space in our Republic," she said in a statement on Tuesday.

"Much more will become clear in coming days and weeks, but what we know now is enough. The President of the United States summoned this mob, assembled the mob, and lit the flame of this attack. Everything that followed was his doing. None of this would have happened without the President. The President could have immediately and forcefully intervened to stop the violence. He did not. There has never been a greater betrayal by a President of the United States of his office and his oath to the Constitution.

"I will vote to impeach the President."

This could all be avoided if the man would just resign.   Responsible Republicans should be urging that route rather than impeachment.

Why should he resign? He’s got another 8 days.

Wyoming voters need to toss that bitch out on her ass come the next election.

Providing of course that such a thing is possible. It may be illegal to vote for Republicans come the next election,and chances are she will be running for re-election as a Dim by then.

Ya really got to give the Dims high points for dedication once they started the active part of their revolution. They have not only refused to back away from it for an inch,they have doubled down.

Nice try.   Most likely Trump would lose his base if he did that.  A base that for the most part is sticking with him, despite what the media says.

No, by then the Republicans will just be a token Party, used by the Democrats as their cover, and provide the illusion of a choice.

The recent insanity just gives Trump’s base more resolve to support him.

Calls for him to resign or be impeached are truly deranged in the clinical sense.

What evidence does Cheney have that Trump incited a violent mob?
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

@dfwgator

If/when that happens,it will be THE sign that the time for peaceful protests are over,and the time to pick up your rifles and go into politics has arrived.

AND......,IF any of you decide to do that,you need to accept and understand there are no half-steps. Even if you are unarmed and just attending a protest,you will be named as an enemy of the state,and will have federal arrest warrants issued for your arrest.

We MUST accept the FACT that the left is NOT playing and is NOT taking half-steps,here. They are going for the total take-over of the nation by a ruling party,namely them. IF we ALLOW them to do this,individual freedoms will be history forever as the world unites under a One World Government composed of Masters and Serfs.

Guess who the Serfs will be.

If you guess yourselves and your children,grandchildren,great-grandchildren,etc,etc,etc,you are correct.

My advice to Trump is to lay low for a few months, stay out of the limelight, and wait for the disasters that are surely to come with the Biden Administration.   Trump will start looking pretty good again.  I should sell bumperstickers that say, "If I knew it would be like this, I would have voted for Trump".

It's better than impeachment or removal by the 25th amendment.   It's the best of several bad options, including from Trump's perspective.   Couple it with a self-pardon as a quid pro quo.

@Hoodat

The receipt for the offshore bank account deposit has been verified.

Like all the other whores,she is for sale to the highest bidder,and in this case the "price" includes being a member of the ruling class,exempt from the laws.

You believe all accusations are now supposed to be accompanied by actionable, hard evidence that will stand up in court, but ‘taint so. Only some accusations.

No. No impeachment, no 25th amendment. None of it is justified by the law or the facts.
There's no point to it at all, in fact, except for people like you who are busily engaging in self-gratification of the most disgusting sort.

If you follow the timeline of events and look at Trump's actual transcript from his remarks...which I know you haven't and never will...there's no way he incited anything.

Besides...if there was a soundbite or audio clip of him saying anything to give those rioters the go ahead...CNN would be playing it 24/7.

You know that...but your baked in intellectual dishonesty won't let you admit it.
