Pat Toomey: The evidence is overwhelming that Joe Biden won this election

U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey on Saturday decried the effort by some members of his party to oppose the certification of the presidential election results.

A coalition of 11 Republican senators, led by Ted Cruz of Texas, announced it will challenge the outcome of the presidential election by voting to reject electors from some states when Congress meets next week to certify the Electoral College results that confirmed President-elect Joe Biden won.

In a statement, Toomey, R-Pa., said the move went against the right of people to elect their own leaders — a defining feature of a democratic republic.

“The effort by Sens. Hawley, Cruz, and others to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in swing states like Pennsylvania directly undermines this right,” Toomey said.

Statement by Chip Roy:

@chiproytx
The job of Congress is to count the electors that states sent to Congress, not determine electors states should have sent. To do otherwise will destroy a foundation of our federal republic, that Congress cannot force its will on states to choose the President. #StandUpForAmerica

Translation: IT IS OVER FOR THE MILLIONTH TIME!  If Trump had concerns about it he should have fought it sooner. Maybe after the election in 2016, he should have done something about election reform. But he didn't.

Time to face the fact; Biden won. I don't like the result, but it is what it is.

Toomey has already left.  He is not running for re-election.  He is an honest man,  privy to knowledge.   And he says that the God's honest truth is that Biden won the election.

No one is asking you to be happy about it.   But if you're an American,  you'll respect the result as the decision of the people,  and perhaps engage in some self-criticism concerning why with such good policies this man-child could piss off so many.    Then recognize that the GOP did better than expected this year and work toward 2022.  After all, the only reason the Dems won is because they promised a respite from Trump.

Unfortunately for Trump,  his behavior these last two months just reinforces why so many want to be rid of him.    The GOP faces a dilemma over how much longer to toady.    Not Pat Toomey.   For him, it's Miller time,  and the license to handle (and speak) the truth.

No objection here.

In fact the entire GOPe in its current money grabbing, prevaricating, condescending incarnation can rot.
