As we discussed yesterday, Florida has been running into massive problems in trying to get enough doses of vaccine for all the senior citizens signing up to be inoculated. Far to the north, in New York State, pretty much the opposite problem is being encountered. Large numbers of vials of vaccine from both Pfizer and Moderna have been arriving in the Empire State. The problem is, they aren’t being injected into hopeful patients at anywhere near an acceptable rate. As of the end of the year, 630,000 doses have been received, but barely 200,000 have been administered. This has a lot of people, particularly healthcare workers and nursing home residents, asking what the holdup is and who is actually in charge of this mess. (NY Post)

Why am I unsurprised? Further, I suspect many states have F'ed up vaccine distribution. I "get" that Christmas and New Year happened in the past couple of weeks, but I've worked holidays more than once when the need was significant. Getting people vaccinated quickly and efficiently is about as urgent as things get, short of war or a massive natural disaster. Evidently states' health bureaucrats saw things differently.

Once the Feds and/or vaccine companies deliver the vaccines to where the various states designated, those vaccines are out of Federal control and distribution is as planned by the states. Far from deliveries being a surprise or precipitous, the Feds notified state governors in early September that they should start preparing their distribution plans, with the possibility of vaccines being delivered in November, https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/cdc-tells-states-prepare-large-scale-distribution-covid-19-vaccine-n1239149 .

It's not up to date - bureaucrats love their holidays, I guess - https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#vaccinations , but here is how things stood on 12/30/2020:

US doses distributed (to states): 12,409,050

US doses injected: 2,794,588

Above the US map, select "Distributed" for the View and "Count" for the Metric. Doing that, I found:

California: Received, 1,476,425; Injected, 294,281; 19.9%

Texas: Received, 942,825; Injected, 205,463; 21.8%

Florida: Received, 783,600; Injected, 176,729; 22.55%

New York: Received, 682,425; Injected, 140,676; 20.6%

Michigan: Received, 337,475; Injected, 53,943; 16.0%

Minnesota: Received, 210,750; Injected, 48,189; 22.9%

Wisconsin: Received, 159,800; Injected, 37,446; 23.4%

Evidently the NYP had more up to date numbers than are currently on the CDC's webpage. Right now it looks like few if any states are doing very well on getting people vaccinated.

The very last thing in the world that Fauci and Democrats want is for COVID to be cured.
That would take away the facade. Without COVID, their excuses would all disappear.
