ICE Removes 31 Known or Suspected Terrorists in FY 2020
The Biden administration may increase the number but make the job harder
By Andrew R. Arthur on December 30, 2020

In my last post, I discussed what we refer to in Washington-speak as the “topline” takeaways from the ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) FY 2020 statistical report. Tucked away in that report is the fact that, while removals were down, ERO managed to nab a bunch of known or suspected terrorists (KSTs) last fiscal year. The next administration may increase that number, but that might not be a good thing.

According to the report, in FY 2020, ICE removed 31 KSTs. That is actually down from FY 2019, when 58 KSTs were removed, but FY 2019 was something of a banner year for such removals. By comparison, for example, in FY 2018, 42 KSTs were removed from the United States.
