Posting problems related to spelling?
« on: December 29, 2020, 11:18:21 pm »
Is anyone else having posting problems related to spelling?

I try to type a post in the "post box",and at least a third of the letters are different than what I typed.

This is related to TBR because I can do what I am doing now, typing into a notepad box on my desktop, and the problem completely
disappears.

I have never heard of such a thing before, but I can't be the only one.

I will try posting to another web board in a few minutes and report back later.

Not sure if TBR is causing that, but I know that auto-correct has been more than a headache than its worth.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

This is a test to see if the Microsoft browser works better than Mozilla.

Apparantely,this is the problem.

Anyone else using Mozilla having spelling problems?

The only problem I have with the Microsoft browser with TBR is I get a little box at the top that says "Not Secure".

Now a couple of years ago when I was running on a Dell my daughter gave me when it was surplussed at her job, Firefox updated and bogged that poor machine down to its knees. I then changed FF to the latest ESR version at the time and my machine ran much better. I've since replaced that machine, but I'm still running ESR versions of FF.

When have you cleaned your keyboard?

You could try an ESR version of FF

Final try before I take a break.

Downloaded the latest version of Firefox again, and evidently there was something "sweet" in it related to keyboards or spelling that didn't come with the first download/update.

Things are looking good now.

I post on another site and it does that weird thing, there too.  I have to correct words all the time.  It changes some words, AFTER they are posted.   "can", became 'car'.    I can see 'O' or "I" being misplaced for each other, next to each other on key board, but,  'n' and 'r'?

Do what I did,and try another browser. If it doesn't do that using the other browser, you know you need to update/reload the browser you have been using.

@LegalAmerican

There is an icon you click on to get to the internet, and there is a name on it. Probably "Microsoft Edge". Since you seem to know nothing about browsers,IF your system has Windows 10 as an operating system, and that is the Windows browser.

There is also a possibility you could be using Google Chrome or Firefox, but regardless of which one you use,it has a name you will see when you look at the icon you click on to get to the internet.

IF you have Microsoft Edge and have been using it,go to the search box on your home page and search for "Firefox" and download that. Once you get it loaded, open it and go to your favorite web pages and see if you have the same problem.

I recommend Firefox as a browser over Google Chrome because I don't trust Google. I use it when I have to on my cell phone, but that's the only place, and I never send or receive emails or any important information on my cell phone. I RELUCTANTLY acccept and send an occasional text message on the cell phone, but that's it.

It is not an exaggeration to say I am a little paranoid about security. I carried a Top Secret/Cyrpto clearance for over 5 years in the army, and that's the sort of thing that will make you a little paranoid about security.

Hell,I have a different password for EVERY program I have to sign in on,and this includes different passwords for the two browsers I use.

I even use a different screen name for each site I sign in on. The one exception to this is political sites.  I use the same screen name on every political site I post on so so people who know me on-line will recognize me.

I have a flash drive/memory stick where I keep all my sign-in names and passwords for every single site I have to sign in on. That way I don't have to remember all those random letters, numbers, and other "marks",which would be impossible to do for anyone. Plug the stick in and go down the line alphabetically until I find the name of the web site I want to sign in on,and then copy and paste. Easy-Peasy.

I never had Top Secret, but I did have Secret for over 35 yrs. Years ago supporting NASA, before they had distributed passwords, each month I'd have to log in to around 30 machines, one by one, to change all my passwords.

I use Vivaldi browser.  Switched from Firefox a couple of years ago.  Something they did then that
I don't recall now.  It was political not operational.

Vivaldi is made possible by the Chromium open source project and other open source software.

I think it depends on how old your phone is. When I last tried FF on my phone last I was running a Samsung S4 and now what's the latest a S12?
