At a press conference on Monday, World Health Organization Chief Scientist Dr. Soumya Swaminathan said that there is not enough evidence that the new COVID vaccines prevent infection.

Dr. Swaminathan said "I don't believe we have the evidence on any of the vaccines to be confident that it's going to prevent people from actually getting the infection and therefore passing it on."

Among just Pfizer, Moderna, and AstraZeneca there are 100,000+ test participants worth of data that prove otherwise. WHO has already covered themselves with crap in their past Covid response and pronouncements, but this pronouncement is like a dive into a full septic tank.

If you get the bug, and develop antibodies, you can't catch it (resistance). This appears to be the only way most of us are going to acquire immunity. Other than that, if enough of the population has immunity, there won't be enough people to transfer the bug except for isolated outbreaks. ("herd immunity").
We've gone about this bassackwards from the start. Let the young get it and get immunity, protect the vulnerable (we know who that group consists of) and let the population get over it. Stop blocking the early onset treatments so that is relegated to a relatively minor inconvenience, and when the 'herd' is immune, the protections can be relaxed.

We could have spared the world economic devastation (except for those who are actually benefiting from this).
