It’s Global Cooling That Worries China, Not Warming
china coalIf I said I had never met a famous person I’d be lying. There was Percy Thrower at the Ideal Home Exhibition about 60 years ago. However, I do know someone who knew somebody who became mega-famous.
My good friend, who is Chinese and now sadly half a world away, arrived in this country aged 16 to study whilst working in a relative’s restaurant in Birmingham. He told me that a waitress at the restaurant had been very kind to him; her name was Mandy Rice-Davies.
There is no euphemism here: she genuinely befriended a young lad thousands of miles from home. Having done a bit of research, I believe she must have been about 16 herself.
