Soros bought the Southern Baptists

A lot of Southern Baptists, and former Southern Baptists like myself, looked on askance as the Southern Baptist Convention, led by Russell Moore, leaped into social justice as if into the bosom of Abraham. It turns out that this corruption and convergence of the Southern Baptists began with the corruption of Dr. Russell Moore and his Ethics and Liberty Commission by George Soros:

A report from Enemies within the Church, printed below, contains documents obtained by the filmmakers that link grants and funding from leftist billionaires to the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC) of the Southern Baptist Convention and its head Russell Moore. The documents include grant data showing the Democracy Fund provided $50,000 to the controversial ERLC’s and The Gospel Coalition’s MLK50 Conference.

Other documents in the report include Dr. Moore’s name in the Podesta emails published in 2016 by Wikileaks....

So, from the ERLC News and Culture webpage, https://erlc.com/resource-library/highlight_feeds/news-and-culture/ , let's see what this supposed Soros Propaganda is about (article titles):

Yeah, really heavily "Social Justice"! :sarc:

Now, who are the annoymorous "VD" of "voxday.blogspot.com" and "Enemies within the Church" that we should entertain their evidence-less lurid accusations? No evidence is presented that ERLC "leaped into social justice as if into the bosom of Abraham", and with that lack plus a look at ERLC's News and Culture webpage the accusation should be dismissed, totally.

Vox Day has been around for over a decade. He used to work for WorldNetDaily if that gives you any idea of the kind of writing he does.

Even heavily discounting the W'pedia article on the guy, WND may be among the less "out there" stuff he's done and said. "Enemies within the Church" seems to be a nitpicking Heresy-Hunting site with a special obsession for the SBC.

Just came across this news item:

Southern Baptist seminary presidents release statement denouncing Critical Race Theory

--- Quote ---The Council of Seminary Presidents of the Southern Baptist Convention released a statement denouncing racism, but also declared Critical Race Theory incompatible with their beliefs.
...
The Council, which is comprised of six seminaries, voted to approve the resolution marking the milestone and to reject CRT, the Baptist Press reported.

“In light of current conversations in the Southern Baptist Convention, we stand together on historic Southern Baptist condemnations of racism in any form and we also declare that affirmation of Critical Race Theory, Intersectionality, and any version of Critical Theory is incompatible with the Baptist Faith & Message,” read the Council's statement, in part.

Members of the Council included: Danny Akin of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Jason K. Allen of Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Jamie Dew of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, Adam W. Greenway of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Jeff Iorg of Gateway Theological Seminary, and Albert Mohler of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

In comments released with the statement, Mohler noted that an advocacy based on views like CRT and Intersectionality “has no rightful place within an SBC seminary.”
--- End quote ---

There is a place within Christianity for apologetics, for giving the reasons for our faith and answering the false with truth. Enemies within the Church, which IIRC includes Albert Mohler on its SBC bogeymen list, appears to be something else, Heresy-Hunters willing to ignore facts and play fast and loose with the truth to get those they target. The truth, in full, matters, whether in Christian apologetics or in other everyday matters.
