‘Herd immunity” and a return to normalcy by May: That’s an awesome projection from a professional source, Dr. Moncef Slaoui, a top Operation Warp Speed adviser.

On the Sunday shows, Slaoui consistently said 70 percent of Americans should be vaccinated within six months. And that, he explained, means that transmission of the virus would fall through the floor, even as everyone resumes their normal lives.

That assumes that the two “finished” vaccines get OKs by the Food and Drug Administration this month, and that production and distribution don’t somehow get screwed up.

And, sigh, that irresponsible politicization doesn’t interfere. As Slaoui noted, all the Warp Speed work to set up vaccine distribution has been “isolated from the administration, from the political environment and the political context. We work very hard to make sure that’s the case. And, therefore, all the decisions are made, the train is running.”

He didn’t single out naysayers like Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who’s been irresponsibly attacking the distribution plans, pretending they’re somehow tainted by the mere existence of President Trump and ignoring the fact that state health departments have a huge say in who gets the vaccine when.

I probably sound like a broken record, but OWS has not simply been about getting a vaccine developed, tested, and approved. It has been all of that plus ramping up production of necessaries like syringes and alcohol wipes, setting up distribution channels, establishing relationships with pharmacy chains and networks, arranging for logistics and transportation, and working with states' health departments to coordinate distribution (states that aren't being obstructionist, at least).

In all seriousness, I do not think Biden knows/comprehends a tithe of what OWS and the Trump Administration have done and have set up. With the same seriousness I think it very likely that a Biden Administration would F up what Trump has ready to set in motion, because of ignorance and elitist arrogance.

BTW, per this AM's announcement, AstraZeneca will probably be applying to the FDA for Emergency Use Authorization within a few days +/- Thanksgiving holidays. So three vaccines could begin distribution by the end of December.

Oh, they fully intend to screw this up. They want to drag this on through the end of 2021 and have even admitted as much, as if we haven't suffered enough.
