After the mega-pharmaceutical company Pfizer was the first one out of the blocks with a COVID-19 vaccine, several reporters tried to say that its efforts had nothing to do with the Trump Administration’s Operation Warp Speed efforts. In fact, as I reported for PJMedia, Pfizer received $2.5 (sic) billion to speed its vaccine, whenever it happened, to the market place. The media eventually had to eat their words.
The Pfizer contract is for $1.95B, which Taft got correct in her article that she linked. The Trump Administration began working with Moderna, the other vaccine maker likely to receive EUA in the next few weeks, in January. AstraZeneca, in May; Janssen (Johnson & Johnson), in February; Novavax, in May.
