38% of Americans planning a big Thanksgiving despite COVID-19: survey

By Jesse O’Neill

November 16, 2020 | 4:22pm | Updated

More than a third of Americans want to have their pumpkin pie and eat it too this Thanksgiving, according to a new survey.

Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, 38 percent are planning a holiday dinner with 10 or more people — and 27 percent don’t plan on practicing social distancing during their celebration, according to the national survey by the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

The survey also found that 33 percent percent of respondents said they aren’t likely to ask their guests to wear masks, and 20 percent would not turn away guests who have virus symptoms.

The majority of respondents said they would only break bread and slice turkey with people in their household, and nearly three quarters plan on practicing social distance.

“We’re going to look back at what happened during this holiday season and ask ourselves, ‘Were we part of the solution or were we part of the problem?,’ ” says Dr. Iahn Gonsenhauser, chief quality and patient safety officer at  the Wexner Medical Center.

“When you’re gathered together around the table, engaged in conversation, sitting less than 6 feet apart with your masks down, even in a small group, that’s when the spread of this virus can really happen.”

You can bet there will be a big gathering at the Cuomo household.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

But Mother won't be invited. Leave the elderly to starve, that's the Cuomo creed.

There is nothing the tyrants in charge can do. Many police departments across the country have stated publicly that they won't enforce any orders to restrict holiday gatherings.
What could they possibly do if there's mass disobedience to the edicts from the tyrants...er....governors?

And that, in the end, is the final answer to all of it.

Only 38%?  If not now, when?  It's past time that we took back our rights!  Stand the h*ll up, people!
It's time to give our tyrants a run for their money.  I've had enough.  No more Mr. Nice guy.

We will be doing Thanksgiving here just as we always have.
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

Some may never have large gatherings normally. My family has typically had less than ten the past few years.

It seems from those I follow on social media that only the hardcore liberals are calling for cancelling the holidays.

Me and mine will pay all this no mind, regardless of what hardcore liberals may call for.

Turkey with all the trimmings, and a wild turkey with all the trimmings and a massive gehakt (Dutch meatloaf)... I expect somewhere between 30 and 50 for Turkey Day... And the old farmhouse will be rocking... Full of life, friends and family. That's what that ol house is for. Ain't no gubmint edict that will shut that off...

With our son and daughter(-in-law) living near San Diego and another daughter currently in Oregon, we had our Thanksgiving dinner a week and a half ago, when our son and daughter(-in-law) came up for a visit. But even if we had all of us together we'd just be six of us.
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

You realize, .... that under a Biden/Harris regime....  you will have made yourself an "enemy of the state"....officially.

This isn't really about Covid-19.  It's about control.   Total control and government outlawing "gatherings" that they deem ""dangerous"".

I made that list long, long before today... Remember in Obummers first term when They called nearly every redneck boy 'militia' and put them on the terrorist list?

Yeah, any good ol boy with a pickup truck, pretty much... especially if they sported a rebel flag, a Gadsen flag, dressed in camo, and went around armed... which 'armed' being anything, to include a pocket knife... Did I ever mention that camo is my favorite color?

A branch of my family cancelled TG dinner this year because the matriarch is 82 and has major health risk issues.... plus she has enough problems with her daughter being a teacher, around kids (that refuse to wear a mask) all day.   Such is life under the new "masters of hoaxes".

Oddly enough....

camo has become my favorite "color", as well.

Our idiot governor has declared that we can have "private social gatherings" of "up to eight people from a maximum of two households."

I have 5 sons, one of whom is married with a child -- for a total of 9 people.  Apparently, I'm going to have to decide who I love the least because Governor Andy wants me to uninvite someone.  /s

All of you are welcome to visit me this Thanksgiving.  I'll be out in the Gulf with 200+ colleagues eating turkey, lobster, cochon, and chateaubriand.  You'll need a boat though.

The wife and I usually have four to eight people over (grandkids and their parents), but they won't be over this year. Just the wife and me.

Governor Andy is gonna be SOL trying to enforce this.  What's he gonna do? Have the local LEOs drive around neighborhoods counting cars and what state their tags are from?

I can just see the E Town PD or the Hardin County Sheriff's Office calling's in their reserve officers...on Thanksgiving...to spy on neighborhoods to make sure everyone is complying.

We're gonna have wayyy more than 8 at my house and if they want to come knock on my door...they can knock till their arm falls off...I'm not answering.

Agreed, and agreed.  If they want me to open my door to them, they best have a warrant in hand.
