I have never figured out why so many conservatives have a knee-jerk "The police are our friends" stance.
I can only guess it is because most have lived a limited life-experience,staying close to home or just not being very adventurous.
Ask anyone you know who took off and just wandered around the country for a couple of years when younger, and ask them about THEIR experience with cops.
Would you believe things like like locking you up for 48 hours for "suspiscion of being suspiscious"",but being told you would be free to go if you would be willing to pay a 100 dollar cash fine?
Would you believe being jailed for a weekend with your car impounded because it had out of state plates on it and the cop claimed the paperwork you had wasn't legimitate, and then getting released at 8 AM Monday morning (before the sheriff and the judges showed up to check weekend paperwork) and told you had 30 minutes to leave the county or be arrested again for loitering?
Then discover when you stop for gas all the tools in the trunk of your car were missing?
Yeah, that and worse were/are everyday events for traveling people who don't seem to have any local "connections".
The FACTS are the ONLY people the police protect without question are the city officials who can fire them, their families, and each other.
IF they protect you,it is because they have either been told to protect you,or they think they are being watched.
I wouldn't unirnate on most of them if they were on fire.
