‘R.I.P., G.O.P.’: New York Times Declares Republican Party Will Die with Trump’s Defeat

Joel B. Pollak 25 Oct 2020

The lead editorial of the New York Times Sunday declares that the Republican Party will die with President Donald Trump’s defeat in the November election.

Under the headline “R.I.P., G.O.P.: The Party of Lincoln had a good run. Then came Mr. Trump,” the Times editorial board argues:

Quote
Of all the things President Trump has destroyed, the Republican Party is among the most dismaying.

“Destroyed” is perhaps too simplistic, though. It would be more precise to say that Mr. Trump accelerated his party’s demise, exposing the rot that has been eating at its core for decades and leaving it a hollowed-out shell devoid of ideas, values or integrity, committed solely to preserving its own power even at the expense of democratic norms, institutions and ideals.

    …

Mr. Trump’s corrosive influence on his party would fill a book. It has, in fact, filled several, as well as a slew of articles, social media posts and op-eds, written by conservatives both heartbroken and incensed over what has become of their party.

    …

The scars of Mr. Trump’s presidency will linger long after he leaves office. Some Republicans believe that, if those scars run only four years deep, rather than eight, their party can be nursed back to health. Others question whether there is anything left worth saving. Mr. Stevens’s prescription: “Burn it to the ground, and start over.”

The editorial board of the New York Times declared in 2016 or 17 (can’t recall exactly when) that truth and journalistic integrity would be secondary to their goal of ridding America of Mr. Trump.

In other words, they are lying sacks of excrement at the New York Times editorial board. May they rot in hell.

Two ironic things stand out:

1. The Republican Party has been dying for a long time. One look at the trend in the popular vote will show that clearly. If anything, Trump revitalized it and bought it some time. Be it a combination of "demographic destiny," lack of fiscal discipline, institutional indoctrination, and/or the rise of corrupt social media companies siphoning off personal communications and manipulating opinion—we have created a generation that is increasingly rejecting the conservatism for which the party is supposed to stand, to our nation's great peril.

2. If you want to talk about a party that has been "a hollowed-out shell devoid of ideas, values or integrity, committed solely to preserving its own power even at the expense of democratic norms, institutions and ideals," look no further than the Democratic Party, once the bastion of slavery and Jim Crow, now stumbling over itself to be woke.

  • Dems-greatest existential threat to USA republic!
I am no fan of a one party system.  I would prefer 3 or 4, but two is better than one.  However, the Democommies are NOT a viable party that I believe should exist in the USA.  There is NOTHING common between the Democommies of today and the Democrat Party of JFK.  NOTHING!!!

The Democrat Party is gone.  The present day party has communists at the head of the party, with a communist as its architect, AOC.  Somehow, I think 7 out of 10 Americans will resent having cows taken away from their diets.  And the end of jet travel, taking us back to the stone age, I don't think so.

So here is an idea.  When Trump wins, all at the New York Times Editorial Dept are indicted for treason, convicted and imprisoned.  People are dead because of what these idiots write.

So correct in item ONE. TRUMP revived the R party. If not for TRUMP the DEM Socialist would be running the country and we would fast forward to VENEZULA. IF TRUMP loses it WILL be the end of the R party and thank goodness. 90% of the Republican's are RINOS and will never be replaced. The COUNTRY needs a opposition party and the R party is not it and never has been it. If TRUMP gets elected look at who the RINO party will have as SPEAKER, McCarthy first mate to PAUL RYAN another RINO. We keep getting these RINOS from CA McCarthy, NUNES all the R Rinos and they expect us to think the R party is a opposition. Now ISSA remember wants back in the RINO wing and will probably get in. For ONCE  agree with the NY TIMES: If TRUMP loses HOPEFULLY it is the end of the RINO party.

America at onetime had a two party system.  The Whigs and the democrats who both refused to represent many of the American peoples wishes.  Corruption was notable of both.  The democrats are now acting like they did then and also like the Whigs did then.  The Republicans again come forth and favored the American people, while the democrats look to foreign interests that financially benefit them greatly, corruption and money, and ignoring the will of the people.  Like the whig movement, the democrats are headed the way of the whigs, they just need lies to cover that and cast whats happening on to the Republicans.  Note It really doesn't seem to be working for them.
NOTE, History might just repeat itself again and rid us of the plague of traitorous duplicitous democrats once and for all.

Indeed w/ several demurrals:
* the republicrats have been on a ventilator for a century,
* Trump revitalized nothing, but his notoriety,
* Principled Conservatism expired w/our Founders and had
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do w/the GOP, a New England
   based progressive party of 1860!!!

Incoherent nonsense!
Our parties at founding were:
* the Southern Agrarian/Rural Democrats of Henry, Rutherford, Lee, Jefferson, Monroe;
among dozens, whose pillars were: States Rights, Free Trade and Judicial Restraint.
Sadly they were fatally tarred by Slavery, due to the economic power of their
Plantation Owner Class and destroyed by the Civil War.
* the Northern Federalists of Hamilton, Jay, Adams, Clinton, King, among many, whose
pillars were Centralized Government, Trade Protectionism via excises/tariffs as well as
   Judicial Activism (John Marshall).
The GOP was birthed some 70 years later, long after the Federalists disappeared and was their heir-apparent, having ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do w/Principled Conservatism, then or now!!!
