That would be OLD type, blood thinners.  Eliquis does not do that, and he would be on the best, like Eliquis. My nurse said , that is like GOLD.

The difference is degree. People taking Eliquis still bruise more easily and to a greater degree (BTDTGTTS). But not as badly as with warfarin, by a wide margin.
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

Except that.... (with all due respect).... if he had stumbled, as you suggest, why would the 'tops' of his hands be bruised, along with his mouth?   What?  He somehow fell on his mouth and managed to hit the "back of his hands" at the same time?   Physically improbable, if not impossible.

But like you said... you do you.   I'll stick with logic.

I could show you pictures of my dad from just a couple of weeks ago looking almost exactly like this, although I obviously won't do so for privacy reasons.  He fell in the kitchen, banged his forehead and nose on the island, and tried to catch himself with his hands on the way down.  His hands were every bit as bruised as his head and face were.

So yes, you can stick with your logic based on your assumptions.  I'll stick with what I've seen first hand and very close to home.

My logic begs the question... how do you manage to bruise AND CUT the tops of your hands if/when you fall.  Unless you fall backwards.   And how would one bruise their lips falling backwards?   Just sayin....

In addition... if Mitch McConnell's health is in such poor condition that he actually fell and injured himself in that manner.... once again, don't We, the People, deserve to know that "truth"?

I'm with you Polly!  My Pop fell just after Christmas. His fall was broken by a solid marble table top.  Looked like he went 10 rounds with Cassius Clay.

I imagined immediately that he either tried to soften his face first dive and may have temporarily lost consciousness on the way down.

It happens so quickly that you may not be able to land palms outward.

Thank God I had a padded toilet seat cover when it happened to me.   I was out cold, but only a couple seconds (as far as I know)

What amazes me to this day is how instantly you go straight down from a standing position.  Impossible to duplicate while conscious.

Not really.

When you're very busy, you don't realize that you're not drinking enough water.

Only symptom is lightheadedness.   And at our age, that reason could be due to any number of daily prescriptions.

Virtually everyone of my prescriptions warns of "dizziness".  I take eight meds.

Now I take them at midnight instead of first thing in the morning.

When I first get into bed at night and close my eyes, it's like I'm on a inflatable raft in a swimming pool while a dozen kids are playing "MARCO POLO"!!

I fell July 11th.  Backwards, onto concrete , in garage.  I pulled hard on manual garage door release.  The rope broke. I went backwards full force.  Hit my butt, back and back of the head.  Like you would see in a cartoon. SPLAT.
No blood, no bruising that I could 'see'.  They took x-rays, I had a fractured sacrum. I guess I am luck and BLESSED, as the woman who was with me, said she heard my HEAD CRACK on the concrete.  I still have a lot of thick hair and I think it cushioned my head, skull. Here I am to tell about it, in OCTOBER.  My hands were not bruised. My lips were not bruised.
In fact, no one could not even tell, I fell so hard on concrete!  Hospital did not believe me,  at first. I am 75.
D.C. said a head injury can make your head bleed like a sieve.  I hope I am 'healed'.

Well, I can't help thinking ... irregardless of how much fun it is to speculate... that Mitch isn't being ...um...

forthcoming with us.   I don't trust him.

As for taking medications, I rarely even take Bayer aspirin.   Lots of vitamins and EmergenC, though.  I saw my parents have to take a dozen pills a day for years and both ended up on dialysis.   No thanks (for me).

My precious mother bruised like that in the last years of her life.

Yes if you are on blood thinners or even low dose aspirin for a very extended length of time and elderly you tend to bruise very easily -- but he would have had to hit something or something hit him in both hands -- he was defending himself or somehow caught both hands in some type of accident --- and then there's the fat lip.

I don't think this was a result of an accident.

Short story....

When my daughter, now 38 was an infant 10 months old, we were invited to a New Year's Eve party.

The sidewalks and street were slick with ice and I fell, and dropped her.   I can still 'hear' that sickening sound of her head hitting the asphalt.

She went on to an Ivy League education including a semester at Oxford.

I tease her all the time that fall gave her "special powers".

Correct.  He won't talk about it  and says not health issue.  So then what?  If it was, an accident, he would have just said. "I had an accident.  I fell. "  He isn't telling us ANYTHING.  THAT IS A CLUE.

I'm not a doctor and never played one on TeeBee but I do know how Eliquis affects my wife.

ELIQUIS can cause bleeding, which can be serious, and rarely may lead to death. This is because ELIQUIS is a blood thinner medicine that reduces blood clotting. While taking ELIQUIS, you may bruise more easily and it may take longer than usual for any bleeding to stop.

My hubby is on Eliquis as well and bleeding does take longer to stop...a few months ago he opened the door into the house from the garage and asks me to get him a paper towel .... holy moly .... I walked out into a pool of blood!  Talk about panicksville .... I remembered he was on Eliquis ...he tried to calm me down and told me not to panic....meanwhile our garage floor looked like a scene from "Sons of Anarchy" ...I got the bleeding to stop but it took a bit of time. Somehow he had cut his leg on one of his motorcycle pegs.  I still kid him ... in his infinite wisdom he told me not to panic.   *****rollingeyes*****

Then she is taking too much of it. I take it twice a day.  Very little bleeding. If I notice a bit of nose bleeding....I SKIP A DAY.  I did stop taking daily aspirin, which causes stomach bleeding. I take medicine for only a while.  I give my organs a break.  I am controlling my life, not any doctor.  I give my liver & kidney's a break. MITCH'S bruising is not from any blood thinner.  His fat lip. Tops of his hands.  When I was on brilinta, my body had bruise marks.  Huge black marks.  I stopped taking that vile med.  Never had bruise on my face, lips, or hands. ONLY ON MY BODY. BACK, STOMACH.
I plan to go off medications.  Not plan to stay ON them.

Mitch McConnell’s bruised hands, lips likely common skin condition, dermatologists say

It is likely a common condition called senile purpura

What’s wrong with Mitch McConnell’s hands? Probably nothing more than the thinning skin — and easy bruising — that comes with old age.

Dermatologists say the 78-year-old Senate majority leader’s black-and-blue bruises and bandaged hands are likely a common condition called senile purpura.

“Your skin just naturally becomes more fragile as you age,” Dr. Doris Day, a Manhattan-based dermatologist, told The Post.

“I think it’s just a bruise — a solid good bruise,” she said.

Um....ok.    Just a bruise.

And the bandaids?   I wasn't aware that bruises required bandaids.   Who knew?
