BFD.  Is there a law that says it has to be televised?  Because if there is not, Graham can have the TeeVee shut down.

It could be "a big deal", if only for a little while.

The committee rules require 2 members of the minority party be present in order for a quorum to exist -- without which there cannot be a vote (out of committee).

If they refuse to show up, the rules can be changed, but I think it requires a majority vote of the full Senate to force it out-of-committee and onto the floor for further consideration.

If pressed, Mr. McConnell will do what's necessary, but it could knock things off-schedule for a day or two. Probably not long enough to prevent a Senate confirmation before election day.

You are correct regarding Judiciary Committee rules.  If two Democrats fail to show, then Graham can present it to the full Senate with approval from a majority of the body (i.e 51 Senators, not 50 plus the VP).
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

Democrats to boycott committee vote on Amy Coney Barrett's Supreme Court nomination

Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee will boycott Thursday's committee vote on Judge Amy Coney Barrett's Supreme Court nomination.

The plan comes as the 10 Democratic senators on the panel have been discussing how to protest the GOP plan to confirm Barrett next week to the seat held by the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and the Democrats on the committee said in a joint statement that the push to confirm Barrett was a "sham process" and accused Republicans of breaking "the promises and rules" established by refusing to give Merrick Garland, former President Obama's final Supreme Court nominee, a hearing or a vote.

"Fearing a loss at the ballot box, Republicans are showing that they do not care about the rules or what the American people want, but are concerned only with raw political power," they said.

"We will not grant this process any further legitimacy by participating in a committee markup of this nomination just twelve days before the culmination of an election that is already underway," they added.

Democrats, instead, are expected to hold two press conferences on Thursday.

Under Judiciary Committee rules, 12 members have to be present in order to report a nomination to the floor — a requirement Republicans can meet on their own if every GOP senator is present.

But the rules also require two members of the minority party to be present in order to transact business.

 Arrests Compel Senate Quorum

https://www.senate.gov/about/powers-procedures/filibusters-cloture/arrests-compel-quorum.htm

November 14, 1942

Quote
In November 1942, a full-scale civil rights filibuster threatened to keep the Senate in session until Christmas. For five days, southern senators conducted a leisurely examination of legislation to outlaw the poll taxes that their states used to disenfranchise low-income voters, including many African Americans.

The 1942 filibuster took place just days after midterm congressional elections had cost Senate Democrats nine seats. Frustrated, Democratic Majority Leader Alben Barkley decided the time had come to end the filibuster. During a Saturday session on November 14, Barkley obtained an order directing Sergeant at Arms Chesley Jurney to round up the five absent southern members needed to provide a quorum.

Jurney sent Deputy Sergeant at Arms Mark Trice to the Mayflower Hotel apartment of Tennessee senator Kenneth McKellar, the Senate’s third most senior member. In his book on Tennessee senators, Senator Bill Frist describes McKellar as an “extraordinarily shrewd man of husky dimensions with a long memory and a short fuse.” When Trice called from the lobby, McKellar refused to answer his phone. The deputy then walked up to the apartment and convinced the senator’s housekeeper to let him in.

When Trice explained that McKellar was urgently needed back at the Capitol, the 73-year-old legislator agreed to accompany him. As they approached the Senate wing, McKellar suddenly realized what was up. An aide later recalled, “His face grew redder and redder. By the time the car reached the Senate entrance, McKellar shot out and barreled through the corridors to find the source of his summons.”

Will be about as effective as cut outs at MLB games with piped in crowd noise.  (Yawn)
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

I am forcing a vote to adjourn the Senate until after the November election.

We are not going to have business as usual here in the Senate while the Republicans try to use an illegitimate process to jam through a Supreme Court nominee.

Yipes, could be more trouble.
51 votes will require that Romney support McConnell (and the president).

Will he do so...?
