Battalion reactivated aboard Camp Lejeune after more than 40 years

CAMP LEJEUNE — The 2nd Landing Support Battalion was reactivated by the 2nd Marine Logistics Group aboard Camp Lejeune on Friday.
After more than 40 years, officials say the battalion was "stood-up" once again in accordance with the 38th Commandant’s Planning Guidance and force design restructuring. The battalion will support aerial delivery and beach landing operations in tactical logistics missions for 2nd Marine Logistics Group and II Marine Expeditionary Force. The unit has also been designed to absorb capabilities from 2nd Transportation Battalion, which was recently restructured.
