Pelosi: No standalone help for airlines without broader COVID-19 aid
By Mike Lillis - 10/08/20 12:11 PM EDT

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Thursday that Democrats will not accept a piecemeal approach to coronavirus relief that benefits only a sliver of suffering Americans without assurances from the White House that President Trump will support a much larger comprehensive aid package.

"The comment I made to the administration last night was: We're happy to review what that standalone bill would look like as part of a bigger bill — if there is a bigger bill," Pelosi told reporters in the Capitol. "But there is no standalone bill."

Pelosi and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin have been in talks as recently as Wednesday evening over the prospects of more aid for the embattled airlines, which have furloughed tens of thousands of employees since Oct. 1. Those talks — combined with the Democrats' failed attempt last week to pass $25 billion in airline relief — created impressions that Pelosi was ready to carve out a portion of the Democrats' $2.2 trillion relief package and move that piece on its own.

White House: Nancy Pelosi Bad Faith COVID Relief Negotiations ‘Unforgivable’

Kyle Olson 8 Oct 2020

White House Deputy Press Secretary Brian Morgenstern told The Kyle Olson Show this week that talks over additional COVID relief for Americans fell apart after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was just “putting on a show.”

“We have to end the lockdowns. We have to do things in a safe and common sense way so that we can get people back to work, back to school, back to church, we can do this,” Morgenstern said in a segment that will air Saturday.

He said President Trump supports an airline relief plan, a proposal to provide protective equipment to schools, and additional stimulus checks to Americans, but negotiations with Pelosi and the Democrats fell apart.

“It got to the point where it was clear that the speaker was not really negotiating in good faith towards the sort of solutions” Republicans support and both parties agree on, Morgenstern said.

Trump, for example, does not support bailouts for states “that haven’t managed their budgets very well.”

“The president is not going to allow her to exploit the situation that our country never asked for,” he said.

Trump should call a press conference stating that... and making it clear that it's the Democrats that are holding up the passing of a relief bill.  But he won't, I bet.  Why not?

I believe Pelosi's still holding out to cram vote-by-mail coast to coast in the final bill.  I notice nobody's talking about that feature.
"A tankard of a familiar hops and barley beverage may be obtained without recompense, twenty-four hours hence."
I will NOT comply.

They're already "voting by mail" in some states.   This election is going to be the most screwed up in history, even dwarfing the clusterF the 2000 election was.

You know, it just now occurred to me.  I'm wondering if there would even have been a 9/11 attack on America.... had Gore been declared the winner.   I'm betting not.   Which does not bode well for what 2021 may bring when Trump wins.    **nononono*
