Netflix's troubles regarding the French-Senegalese film Cuties isn't quite over. The streaming giant was hit with an indictment in Texas over the movie's alleged promotion of the sexual exploitation of minors.

Representative Matt Schaefer shared the indictment Tuesday on Twitter. "Netflix, Inc. indicted by grand jury in Tyler Co., Tx for promoting material in Cuties film which depicts lewd exhibition of pubic area of a clothed or partially clothed child who was younger than 18 yrs of age which appeals to the prurient interest in sex #Cuties #txlege," he wrote. ... “If this is legal, then literally anybody with a camera can get an underage girl, very young girl, and have her do nearly anything as long as there is the thinnest piece of fabric covering her body,” Schaefer told The Texan last month. “Ultimately, we have to realize that this film is gonna be seen by a lot of 12, 13, 14, 15, 16-year old boys. How is that not material harmful to a minor?”

The controversial release of the fictional film, which follows a twelve-year-old girl’s foray into a provocative dance group, kindled outrage and prompted several Texas Republicans to action.  ...

WOODVILLE, Texas (KETK) – Tyler County has handed down an indictment against Netflix for “promotion of lewd visual material depicting child”.

The charge stems from the “Cuties” movie, which was released back on September 9, starred an 11-year-old who followed a dance crew.

The documentary sparked controversy with its depiction of young girls. Texas Senator Ted Cruz called for a criminal investigation into the film earlier this month, calling it a “pornographic film.”

    “The film routinely fetishizes and sexualizes these pre-adolescent girls as they perform dances simulating sexual conduct in revealing clothing, including at least one scene with partial child nudity. These scenes in and of themselves are harmful. And it is likely that the filming of this movie created even more explicit and abusive scenes, and that pedophiles across the world in the future will manipulate and imitate this film in abusive ways...Although the First Amendment provides vigorous protection for artistic expression, it does not allow individuals or for-profit corporations to produce or distribute child pornography. “

All I have seen of that show is a posed photo of the cast,and that's all I needed to see to agree with this lawsuit.

Frankly,it creeped me out.

And NOBODY can call ME a "Bible-Thumping Prude".

I've seen a photo of these little girls dancing, wearing skimpy clothing with (I suppose) seductive expressions on their faces. Just the publicity stills are vulgar enough for me.

Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos has defended the controversial movie “Cuties,” arguing that American audiences do not understand it as critics increasingly accuse the streaming giant of trafficking in soft-core child porn.

Sarandos said at the virtual Mipcom market on Monday that Americans have “misunderstood” the film in response to a Texas grand jury arguing that it “appeals to the prurient interest in sex, and has no serious, literary, artistic, political, or scientific value,” according to Deadline ...
