My nieces who were brought up in a Conservative, Traditional Catholic home are now freakin whacko liberal after their university edjamacation. I must ad this disclaimer my son is also a freakin liberal whako after his university edjamacation. My nieces now can't be bothered to call my mother, even to thank her for gifts and when my mother does call them and says something about all the violence and unrest they question her as if she was being brainwashed because they don't see or hear anything about what is actually happening. Oh and they think pope socialista is infallible even though he pretty much contradicts what they were taught as children and young women.
I already know that once my mother passes it will be the end of contact with them because they have been distancing for years.
@goatprairie @GtHawk Yeah, well, this is something every generation goes through as they leave home and try to establish themselves as independent, thinking people. The best way to do this is to associate with people and thoughts the polar opposite of your family.
MOST end up coming "home" to the values they grew up with after living with and seeing how shallow and selfish the left really is. It just takes them a while. Seems like most have to graduate from college, get jobs, and start a family before it begins to happen, because THAT is when "the rubber meets the road. Life is no longer a hobby, and suddenly they are faced with the reality of adulthood.
MY advise, and worth every penny it cost you is to not burn any bridges. Try your best to tolerate them as they go along in life, and chances are they will "come back".
