I always say that if you are going to go the risks to commit a crime of any type, you need to shut your mouth about it when talking to anyone.


However, the first thing that everyone seems to do when they have stolen something is talk about it. Look at what happens in scenes in movies after a robbery. People always get caught because they brag about it.

It takes a special kind of stupid to commit a felony and then brag about it on Facebook for everyone to see.

Happens all the time, going back to when FB first went online.
Thousands of people have essentially turned themselves in on the site.
Cannot count the number of selfie videos showing drugs, weapons, and 10s of thousands in cash.
Not to mention the number of criminals who actually video the crime itself.

Like the author said. This is a special kind of stupid.
Not only because of cops, but because of other criminals watching.
"Hey! I know that guy. And I know where he lives."
For whatever reason, all the stuff criminals would hide or flush, drugs, weapons, cash, if a cop came to the door, they feel perfectly comfortable videoing openly and posting online.
Getting away with it and having all that money is not enough without the fame, I guess?

It's the arrogance.   They've been brought up all their lives to think they can do no wrong and they're brilliant (mommy's little darlings).   The arrogance makes them stupid.

When I lived up north one of my students father had given him a Mercedes. Kid comes home after a night out with his friends and his dad asks him how he got footprints on the windshield. Son had no idea. Dad found out when he saw the picture of his 17 year old son standing on the hood of the car with one foot on the windshield, HOLDING A BEER, on facebook.
