Noticing this refrain more and more on various outlets.
The story is becoming that it doesn't matter if it is true or not.
Whether it is true or not Trump should apologize to the troops anyway.
The Leftist line seems to be, even if it is NOT true ... it should be!
They are getting caught in another Dan Rather type made-up lie.
So now they are crying outloud, 'We don't care if it is true or not. We are going to report it forever anyway.'

The third line is intuitive and insightful; yet why?
Because Trump has run of at the mouth for more than 60 years w/one outrageous and
reckless statement after another.
As a consequence, his reputation is now cast in stone for a large majority of plain people.
Were he to issue an apology preceded w/a conditional "IF" he would likely create surprise
if not shock, turn down the decibels for the moment and perhaps change some minds.
His Fan Club, addicted to conflict and noise will go bonkers; their behavioral gene and so what.
The wise always seek the advantage in any conflict.

Title:
Dan Rather on Atlantic’s Trump Story: ‘Whether He Said It or Not, It Is Believable to a Lot of People’

Y'know, I'm going to have to agree with Rather on this one.
His supposition is correct.
And that was the entire reason for running the article...
... to reach wishy-washy "independents" in the hope that they would believe it.

Having said that, I'm amazed that there still could be "undecideds" at this point. How can people be so weak-minded...?

And why is it believable?

Because of all the other BS the media has put out there about Trump over the years,  this is just the latest example.

Correct. Dan Rather is another piece of shyt.  TRUMP ENVY.  There is a video of him badgering private citizen TRUMP, to tell him how much something cost, then said TRUMP braggs,  about it.  ALL THE SAME.  MALE ENVY ON TRUMP.  Lettermen did the same.  They go after him all the time.  Same questions then mock him.  Every guy wanted to BE TRUMP!

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
