Prominent Jesuit Father Thomas Reese has taken to Twitter to promote the national kick-off of Catholics for Biden, a “grassroots” group promoting the Democrat ticket in November.

The virtual launch of Catholics for Biden will take place Friday, September 4 and will feature prominent progressive Catholics such as Senator Dick Durbin, Sister Simone Campbell, Dr. Stephen Schneck, Dr. Polly Baca, Felice Gorordo, Tim Shriver Jr., Ana Sofia Pelaez, Peter Kellner, and others.

The event aims to help participants “engage Catholic voters” and whip up enthusiasm for the Biden-Harris ticket.

He was appointed to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom by President Barack Obama in 2014 and in 2016 was elected chair of the commission. His term as commissioner expired at the end of May 2018.

He drew criticism for his remarks that the Church should abandon efforts to make abortion illegal, focusing on reducing the number of abortions. Cardinal Timothy Dolan stated that “As chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops Committee on Pro-Life Activities, I want to indicate my serious reservations about Reese’s strategy, considering it a capitulation to the abortion culture, and a grave weakening of the powerful pro-life witness."

Tennessee Bishop Questions Biden-Pelosi Catholic Credentials

The bishop of Knoxville (TN) has called into question claims by Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi that they are “faithful Catholics” given their public opposition to Church teaching.

“It really confuses me that both Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi time and time again state that they are faithful Catholics and yet promote unlimited abortion as well as deny so many of the teachings of our faith,” Bishop Rick Stika tweeted Tuesday. “Nancy stated that she will no longer support the Hyde Amendment.”

“I guess they think it is ok to say they are faithful but yet support the ultimate child abuse and human rights violation of the death of the unborn,” the bishop added in a separate tweet. “I hope someday, her portrait will be removed from the Capital as she did of those who supported slavery. No difference.”

“From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person — among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life,” states the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

This nonsense about abortion being OK is in direct contravention to Catholic doctrine. None who promote abortion or a number of other things the Democrats promote are right with the Church, and that includes ANY clergy and politicians who defy doctrine.
