NBA Playoff Ratings Crash by 23%, Lowest Watched in 5 Years
« on: September 01, 2020, 04:12:54 pm »
Warner Todd Huston 1 Sep 2020

Despite near-daily efforts to show America how woke they are, or, because of it, the NBA’s playoff ratings are still tanking.

“Weekday afternoon games have certainly hurt, but the first weekend of the NBA Playoffs was no ratings bonanza either,” Sports Media Watch reported.

Viewership on ABC is down 23 percent and the numbers are down 20 percent overall compared to last year’s playoffs

“The Lakers’ win ranks as ABC’s least-watched playoff opener in five years (2015 Pelicans-Warriors: 3.49M), with the caveat that this year marked the first time since 2004 that it did not air a game on the opening day of the postseason,” Sports Media Watch added.

The league has tried to blame the coronavirus and its effects; however, SportsBusiness Daily recently noted that ratings for last season were also bad, as the 2018-2019 season lost 12 percent in viewership. That, of course, was pre-pandemic.

I LIKE James Wood but using James Harden as a Poster Boy for the politicization of the NBA is Flat Wrong.
Harden is the epitome of the 'shut up and dribble' movement~Not Political AT ALL.
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

And he has the Best Beard in Sports.

But seriously, as far as there being mouth-runners threatening to quit pro basketball, when many of them gambled their whole livelihoods on making it to the NBA, it reminds me so much of those celebrities promising to move to Canada if Bush/Trump/etc. wins. They won't.

(For the record, Woods appears to have been duped. BustATroll.org is another entry in the infamous Christopher Blair hoax machine.)

And you would think with the dearth of live sports on TV, and people stuck at home, ratings should be much higher.

Good...when it start hitting the wallets of the players and sponsors perhaps they make think twice.  It may take awhile, but it'll happen.
Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

People have been outside enjoying the summer weather. Summer has always been the least-watched part of the TV season.

The NBA, MLB, and NHL made the miscalculation of assuming people would be so desperate for live sports that they'd watch it even in August (this was particularly laughable for hockey). But people are stir-crazy from having nothing to do during the spring. They don't want to watch TV.

I caught a few highlights from all three when I saw SportsCenter on the TV at a tavern where I was eating breakfast yesterday. As a TV product, it was surprisingly well-shot. They moved it to a smaller TV-friendly venue. But baseball doesn't have that benefit; the empty stands are chilling, and it's difficult to watch.

LeBoring James is the most obnoxious of the social justice warriors, I'd say. Curious that Bronnie isn't wearing one of the BLM slogans on his jersey, though (e.g., black lives matter, say their names, education reform, peace, etc.). I guess he doesn't want his glorious name to share the limelight with anything.

NBA Donates $300 Million to BLM and the Democrat Party’s Pockets — Now Wants to Set Up Polling Places Which May Be Illegal
By Joe Hoft

Quote
There is no room for diversity of thought in the National Basketball Association.

The Party and its 2020 candidates have never publicly denounced the associated looting, rioting, and wholesale violence. The Democratic National Committee actively uses the BLM movement to solicit for donations. BLM is the de facto wing of the party, and Antifa is BLM’s alter ego.

The NBA has caved into the mob mentality and hyperactive player activism by becoming a promoter of the Black Lives Matter movement and is donating $300 million. The NBA collaborates with local BLM organizations and claims its actions are about non-partisan policy reform (an unlikely story).  ...

Now the latest NBA marketing strategy is to use sixteen arenas as mega polling places for early and election day voting ostensibly for social distancing.

The mega-sites’ early election will unfold with the parquet courts decorated with the Black Lives Matter logo, painted murals, and hanging BLM banners to virtue signal the NBA’s support. NBA will be doing voter promos. BLM supporters will be loitering around the arenas wearing slogan T-Shirts, carrying signs, and handing out literature. Players will be putting in appearances at the stadiums for fan selfies and autographs to get out the vote.  By promoting BLM, it directly benefits the Democratic Party candidates. However, by their overt actions, the NBA teams may be violating most state election laws addressing loitering and electioneering.  ...

I see my Bucks went down to another ignominious playoff defeat.
That's what you get when you put most of your energy into virtue-signaling instead of concentrating on winning games.
I didn't watch one minute.

... A day after LeBron James declared that black people live in daily fear of police violence and that black men are targeted for death by police, his disciples backed him up en masse.

James is the Al Sharpton of sports, an agent of chaos working closely with politicians who use racial division to rally voter support. Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and black ministers can no longer deliver black voters to polling booths. The task has now been handed to James, Colin Kaepernick and black athletes. It’s their job to inflame the emotions of black people and get us to vote for Joe Biden like our lives depended on it.   ... Jason Whitlock, Outkick.

James is one of the greatest players in NBA history...maybe in the top five. He is also might be the biggest scoundrel in NBA history.
At first I thought he was just a fool....an ignoramus like many athletes.
Now I call him a negative force in America. He's a scoundrel who makes things worse for everybody.

Heck even the U.S. Open tennis tourney has Black Lives Matter all over the place.  Kind of sick of it.

Pretty bad when you have to pull for the American to lose, since he has BLM on his shoes. happy77

LeChoke James maybe should spend a little less time pontificating on social justice and a little more time raising his son.

LeBron James’ son Bronny appears to smoke marijuana in viral clip
By Jessica Bennett

Bronny James, the son of NBA star LeBron James, is building his own legacy as a threat on the basketball court. Unfortunately, the high school athlete has found himself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.

In a now-viral clip, the 15-year-old point guard is seen smoking what appears to be a blunt on his Instagram stories. While the video has been removed from his account, screenshots of the 6’2″ baller smoking have spread like wildfire on social media. ...
