Guillén family demands justice after disappearance, death of another Fort Hood soldier

The family of Vanessa Guillén joined the family of another slain Fort Hood soldier Friday to demand justice and change.

Both young Latino soldiers vanished from Fort Hood after saying they experienced sexual violence at the post, and some of the details surrounding the death of Elder Fernandes seem to parallel those in the killing of Guillén. Fernandes’ disappearance and death has become another rallying cry for activists who want to see the military change the way it handles sexual harassment and assault and the way it treats minority members.

“We must continue to support these families in the search for justice,” said Cesar Espinosa, executive director of FIEL, a Houston organization that fights for immigrant rights. “We hope that the murders and all these situations stop at Fort Hood so that no more families have to go through this.”

In an emotional speech in Spanish, Gloria Guillén, Vanessa Guillén’s mother, said she won’t stop protesting outside Fort Hood until her demands for a congressional investigation are met.

@Elderberry

I am with them on this. There is NO way this went unnoticed in the insular environment of a army base. And it wasn't just a few people that knew about it. Damn near everybody on the company level knew about it because it is impossible to hide.

And.......,the family just lost me with that racial HorseHillary. Did NOT have a freaking thing to do with race,other than it SEEMS everyone involved so far was non-white. It was ALL about sexual kink.

Translation "This had NOTHING to do with immigration,and everything to do with me being just one more poverty pimp wanting to dip my beak into the money pit." Bleep him and every butthole like him.

She no doubt has the racist poverty pimp winding up the key in her back and egging her on as he tries to turn this into something racist.

Anyone who isn't paranoid in 2021 just isn't thinking clearly!
