You know I having been hearing that same carp for decades and have yet to explain how California is responsible for all the............malarkey I am constantly reading about in so many other states, things that make even the socialists and alphabet soupers in California look middle of the road.
I haven't read anything about uncontrolled rioting and looting and arson going on in California like it is in other states. What I just don't get is if so many liberals have left California for other states , so many that they have tipped the political scale in other states, why the heck haven't the conservatives regained control in California? Sounds like some of that voodoo magic the democrats are always blaming conservatives for.
They come in waves, and they bring it with em. Typically though, I would say it is more a city vs rural thing... Montana, and our area particularly got inundated with city and suburban Californians who think they know better than rural folks. And now my town has covenants and gated communities, and we are fighting liberals in the schools and city government... to a degree the county too.
However, I have punched cows with fellers from the Sierras, one of whom is a good friend of mine who later moved here - Redneck as the day is long, and he fits here just like I would fit in rural Texas in short order...
It is our misfortune that most of our imports have been from the left coast, and most of them from CA. Funny though, as I came in a wave from the east - A lot of Iowans, Illini, and Hoosiers came here when we did. Maybe it is because we had to learn Western culture and knew that, but the impact on the local culture was a whole lot less than say, the first hippie movement here, shipped up mostly from CA.
And it is true all over the NW... If I mention 'Californication' to a Wyoming cowboy, he'll nod his head in agreement... It is the left coast coming eastward.
