National Association of Letter Carriers endorses Biden amid USPS funding controversy

The National Association of Letter Carriers, which represents the nonrural letter carriers for the United States Postal Service, endorsed Joe Biden in his bid to become president.

The Biden campaign announced the news in a statement on Friday.

The NALC said the decision was "based on the input of our membership through polling, surveys, responses to our candidate questionnaire, and a discussion with the Vice President."

The Postal Service is in dire financial need, but President Trump declared his opposition to providing it with emergency funding.

"The decision is also partly informed by what we have seen from the current administration with regards to the Postal Service," the NALC added.

The endorsement also comes as a debate rages in Washington over mail-in voting. The Postal Service has warned 46 states and Washington, D.C., that it may be unable to deliver mail-in ballots on time to be counted due to overwhelming demand, the Washington Post reported Friday.
