Well, I've seen government do charity. Look at any of its myriad of government programs for the poor. Fraud, waste and corruption. Hell, look at the programs created under the guise of "COVID stimulus." Programs to aid small business, for example. Some big names with plenty of wealth received aid, while legitimate small business often got zero. It's always the way. Set up a government program, then pour the money down the drain.
No thank you. Legitimate charities have finite resources because they rely on donations to keep going. Because these charities don't have an unlimited source of money, they will only help those truly in need. Government figures it has plenty of money, but if it runs out, it will just tax the peons. Or fire up the printing presses. Government should leave charity to the charities and stop tryin to "help" those in need.
