MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — A high school student has been charged after police discovered his plans to commit a school shooting.

The student, 18-year-old Andrea Ye, was arrested Wednesday following discovery of a 129-page manifesto detailing how he (!) would carry out the shooting.

According to police, the document also stated that he contemplated targeting an elementary school and that he wanted to be famous.

A search warrant retrieved by the Montgomery County Police Department led to internet searches, drawings and documents related to threats of mass violence.  ... WMAR

BALTIMORE -- A Montgomery County high school student is facing charges after allegedly planning to commit a school shooting, according to police.

Alex Ye, 18, of Rockville, was arrested following a joint investigation with the FBI Baltimore Field Office, who notified MCPD of a 129-page document written by Ye.

In the document, Ye allegedly wrote about how he planned to commit a school shooting.  "Ye also contemplates targeting an elementary school and says that he wants to be famous," MCPD said.  ...

Trying to change oneself from male to female, or female to male, should be prima facie evidence of a mental disorder. Unfortunately, these nuts take it one step beyond, and try to harm other people.

An 18-year-old high school student who identifies as transgender was arrested and charged over alleged plans to shoot up a Montgomery County, Maryland school. The suspect had a 129-page manifesto in which the student strategized how to undertake the crime.

Andrea Ye, of Rockville, who goes by Alex Ye was arrested on Wednesday by local Montgomery County Police. This follows an investigation carried out by local police in association with the FBI field office out of Baltimore. The manifesto was discovered after a search warrant was carried out.

"Ye was taken into custody and charged with threats of mass violence. He is currently being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit where he awaits a bond hearing," read the news release from the Montgomery County Department of Police, referring to the female student as "he." ...

In addition to plans to shoot up a high school, Ye also wrote about potential plans to shoot up an elementary school, indicating that this was part of a yearning to be famous. Another trans school shooter, Audrey Hale, did become famous after murdering 3 children and 3 adults at the Covenant School in Nashville, Tenn. Hale also left behind a manifesto, though the fate of that documents is in the hands of courts.

The search of Ye's belongings also uncovered internet searches, drawings, and further documents about massive violence. ...

The local radio media as well as the Washington Post refuse to report that the perp is a TRANS person.

What I don't understand is why he/she would want that kind of "fame". Even if achieved for a day, it would be forgotten. Sadly, this is such a common occurrence that people can't remember who did what.
