State of Florida to lay off 1,000 call takers

Unbelievable!!! People still have gotten paid in full or not at all on their claims -- so it appears that people won't be getting their unemployment compensation as the people that were hired to process the claims are now being laid off!!!  Well, at least I'm pretty sure now that DeSantis won't be closing the state down as it seems that there's no $$ to pay claims.

State of Florida to lay off 1,000 call takers

SOUTHWEST, Fla. - The State of Florida is laying off nearly 1,000 call takers effective next week. They were hired to help process tens of thousands of unemployment claims.

However there are conflicting reasons as to why the workers are being let go. The state claims it's getting rid of workers who were under performing, but emails obtained by NBC-2 state lack of money to pay the workers.

Florida has contracted to spend $113 million dollars to hire companies which could help process unemployment claims after the state's unemployment website crashed in March.

NBC-2 confirmed Wednesday that contracts with two companies AECOM and UDT have been terminated.............

..............The DEO maintains it still has about 3,000 call takers answering phones, as many unemployed workers continue reporting they are unable to reach a representative to take their calls.

So, 1,000 laid off Call Girls is a bad thing?  Seems to me they'd be dirt cheap now (emphasis on "dirt").
For unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death — if you’re unvaccinated — for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm. Sloe Joe Biteme 12/16
I will NOT comply.
