They also want Medicare-for-All, a wealth tax, a federal bailout.

A major teachers union is claiming that the re-opening of schools in its district cannot occur without several substantial policy provisions in place, including a "moratorium" on charter schools and the defunding of local police.

United Teachers Los Angeles, a 35,000-strong union in the Los Angeles Unified School District, made those demands in a policy paper it released this week. The organization called on local authorities to "keep school campuses closed when the semester begins on Aug. 18."

The union outlined numerous major provisions it says will be necessary to reopen schools again, including sequestering students in small groups throughout the school day, providing students with masks and other forms of protective equipment, and re-designing school layouts in order to facilitate "social distancing."

That would require body parts I don't think educrats are allowed to have.

I don't think the "moratorium" (does that mean all shut down or just no new charters schools being allowed?) would be legal under CA law. Obviously that has absolutely nothing to do with the "reason" schools were shut down, Covid-19. The demanded police ban is also entirely unrelated to preventing the spread of Covid-19.

I'm surprised the union isn't demanding that the LA County Office of Education refuse to accept R4 Private School Affidavits except for existing campus-based private schools. That would target homeschoolers, who mostly either file as their own private school or are enrolled in a private school ISP that has multiple families' students but is not campus-based. I think CA, like most states, is going to see a noticeable (if not large) surge in homeschooling.
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

Works for me.  Thing of how much money can be saved in payroll.  As for the kids, California already ranks 50th among all States in education.  They don't seem concerned on whether their kids get educated.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

No, that's at least as much of the problem as the teachers' unions.  Teachers colleges are hotbeds of leftist lunacy (and really have been since John Dewey's anti-intellectualism became the prevalent philosophy, and got worse when Vygostsky's "social construction of knowledge" into imported them).
And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.

Oh yes, the students. The last thing on the teacher union’s mind, as always. The first thing, more taxpayer money. The rest of this stuff is somewhere in the middle.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

You'd have a better chance of holding a MAGA rally in Berkeley than you would of decertifying the teacher's union in L.A.
Although if the proposal were made in English, many of them wouldn't understand it....
"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

WHAT!!?? 83% of LA Teachers Vote To Give Students Less Choice And Make Them Less Safe

by DCWhispers | Jul 13, 2020 | DC Whispers

Is it any wonder so many among the younger generations are so ignorant of basic facts when these are the people who are being paid to indoctrinate them year after year after year?

Being a risk-taker by nature,I am going to go out on a limb here and guess they still get their paychecks regardless of if the schools are open or not.

Just a wild guess.
