Democrats hope for tidal moment in Georgia with two Senate seats in play
By Max Greenwood - 07/10/20 10:51 AM EDT

Republicans are scrambling to defend both of their Senate seats in Georgia as signs of trouble pile up for President Trump in the state.

Two GOP outside groups are preparing to pour tens of millions of dollars into television advertising in Georgia this week to bolster Sen. David Perdue’s (R-Ga.) reelection bid against Jon Ossoff, an investigative journalist and former House candidate who won the state’s Democratic Senate primary last month.

Meanwhile, Georgia’s junior senator, Kelly Loeffler (R), is leaning into a dispute over the Black Lives Matter movement with the WNBA team she co-owns as she looks to bolster her conservative credentials ahead of November, where she will face both Republicans and Democrats on a jungle-primary style general election ballot.

On Wednesday, the Cook Political Report shifted the state and its 16 Electoral College votes to “toss-up” status in the presidential race. And while Georgia’s two Senate seats remain in the “lean” Republican column, Democrats say that they are on the cusp of winning in a historically red state that has long been on their political wish list.

“Georgia is the lynchpin, the most competitive state, the top battleground,” Ossoff said in an interview on Thursday.

I believe the customary spelling is "linchpin."  But when a Georgia democrat is speaking, all bets are off.

I think it is in play, because if Republicans fold under the BLM narrative, they are offering no other choice, and come off every bit as craven and lilly-livered as they truly are. And nobody votes for that.

That they won't come out in strong defense of Southern sensibilities and culture is a death knell.
They will let the liberals win on the issue that Southern Conservatives hold most dear - Their honor.

That will not be forgiven.

Spelling is so hard. The Hill can’t be expected to know everything.

I think pivotal is the best way to look at the next election. From sea to shining sea, will Americans suddenly lurch left or right? Sue for peace and calm? Or, fight back Marxism after it wins at the ballot?

Interesting times, sure. Terrifying times? Definitely.

There is no way that John Ossoff will beat David Perdue.  Ossoff couldn't even beat Karen Handel for the 6th Congressional seat four years ago.  Handel was a terribly lazy candidate (and Congresswoman) who easily lost to a Democrat nobody in a Republican district two years later and will probably lose again this time around.

As for the other race, it will most likely go to a runoff in January where the Republican will win.  So Democrats can hope all they want, but they won't win either seat.  We learned our lessons with Max Cleland and Wyche Fowler.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

-Ayn Rand-
