Judge orders temporary shutdown of controversial Dakota Access Pipeline

The Dakota Access Pipeline must shut down by August 5 during an in-depth environmental review of the controversial project, a district court ruled Monday in a defeat for the Trump administration.

The rare shutdown of an operating pipeline marks a major win for the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and environmental groups that have fought fiercely for years against the oil pipeline.

In its decision, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia vacated an easement granted by the US Army Corps of Engineers that allowed Dakota Access to build a segment of the pipeline beneath Lake Oahe in North Dakota and South Dakota.

The court had previously ruled the Corps violated the National Environmental Policy Act when it granted the easement because it had failed to produce an Environmental Impact Statement.

CNN?  Good lord,  obama had a 7 year study on this, and everything passed, except the starting of the project.  THIS JUDGE IS OUTRIGHT LYING.....well it is CNN.  I doubt anything was violated and there were CHANGES to the environment laws.  People just want to live in the dark ages, don't they?   BOGUS ISSUE.  YUP!  Went to article.

Energy Transfer (ET), which developed the pipeline, said in a statement the "ill-thought-out" ruling is "not supported by the law or the facts of the case" and that Judge Boasberg "exceeded his authority." =ARTICLE.

This is just another naked attempt to crash the economy. Obama and his minions never forgave North Dakota for being a shining economic beacon during the last economic disaster, and now those MFers are getting even by hammering our oil industry and the State Government as well. Four out of every 10 barrels of oil leaving the State travels through that pipeline, and it was in the works to increase that.

Not only will this hurt oil companies, but it will hurt every taxpayer in the State and every landowner.

They must have sent him a couple of winkte boys to play with.

As far as the Standing Rock Casinos go, I would freeze to death before setting foot in one.

This is such naked, partisan activity in violation of Constitutional Rights for so many, it cannot stand.

This judge's ruling will be reversed, count on it.

If it doesn't, what's to prevent a court saying a skyscraper must be torn down just because of the way he interprets a law that should have never been made in the first place./

Who knew? Who could have ever guessed in the 70s/80s that in the 21st century Judges would be elevated to a kind of GOD, even superseding the POTUS? This was unimaginable only a few decades ago. Now it is commonplace. Until the House is replaced with normal people, it will only continue and get worse by the year.

The three-judge appeals panel did, however, allow the new environmental review to move forward. The process is expected to take at least a year.
